Printed Dresses + H&M Giftcard Giveaway

H&M Printed Dress

What is it about the coming of Spring that ushers in a wave of prints? Probably because we spent all that time cooped up in shapeless sweaters, hiding any fun patterned tops we might have on under a thick layer of coats and scarves. I know I was probably overzealous and got my printed dresses way early in the season, in the hopes that I would survive the early Spring chill since it’s a long sleeved maxi. Welp, getting a Spring dress with the hope that the weather will soon turn and cooperate with you definitely did not make it so. There was quite some time between when I purchased this dress and I got to shoot it — as a result it’s sold out already. But no worries guys, I’ve got oodles of picks for you to choose from. And they’re all under $50. Better yet, I’m having a giveaway for one lucky reader to win a gift card to H&M, so you can get your Spring dress shopping on.

Read on for more deets of this outfit and to find out how you can enter the giveway.

5 Hacks for Keeping Your Whites White

April 13, 2018

For someone who is clumsy and accident prone, I sure do love wearing whites. They look great in every season and are great contrasting item, especially with my favorite faux-leather jacket. I used to totally avoid wearing them, until I got smart in the art of keeping my whites at their whitest. I promise it’s not as hard as you think it will be with these five hacks.

Spring Edit: Striped Blazer and Pops of Color

April 11, 2018

Topshop striped suit jacket

I love me some blazers have got myself quite the arsenal of selection in my closet. Just like a good pair of stiletto heels, they really are one of easiest way to elevate and zhush up any outfit (except that the later is way more comfortable). Add it to a basic casual pants/shirt combo and presto, you’re all of a sudden fancy enough for the most nerve-wracking client meeting at work. I would love to have the blazer in my outfit rotation all year long, but I find them hard to do in winter. This is because they’re usually not warm enough for you to survive outside, yet you risk wrinkling them if you layer a winter coat over it — and wrinkly is neither chic or fancy.

So now that the weather is (sort of) getting warmer, I’m finding that I’m busting out my blazers more and more. And why not add a Spring twist to it by wearing colorful ones that add a fun pop of color to your outfit.

How to Get A Sweats Look That’s All Comfy and No Frumpy

April 6, 2018

Starter Women's Hoodie Dress

Comfy and frumpy are two words that can come to mind when describing an outfit that involves sweats. You guys know that I’m all about being comfy. If you are a fan of sweatshirts (and cozy-wear) but haven’t tried the sweatshirt dress yet, you gotta get on the bandwagon. Seriously, it’s like friggin’ wearing a hug — after all, you’re basically enveloping yourself in a shapeless warm cocoon. Okay okay, so that is probably not the chicest description of an outfit and where the frumpy connotation comes from. But I promise you, you can totally get all the comfort without the frump. Just follow these hacks…

Shades of Blush

Oh Polly Don’t Go Chasin’ Waterfalls Longline Lapel Coat in Lilac

I’m sure you guys are tired of hearing it, because I’m tired of saying it: where the heck is Spring?!? As of the time I’m writing this blog, it’s cold outside and angry thick gray clouds are threatening to release rain at any moment. I’ve heard of the saying “April Showers bring May flowers”, but this rain feels more like the plant killing rather than the plant generating kind. There are days I feel like being really stubborn and wear my spring clothes anyway. But predictably, it’s a decision I soon regret and I end up cabbing it most of the day because I’m too cold to walk around.

So how’s a girl supposed to keep the spirit of Spring when she’s forced to wear her winter gear for the foreseeable future? I’m doing it by bringing Spring colors to my outfit repertoire. I’m not typically one to go for a whole lot of pink, but I just feel like my life is needing that dose of Spring pastel. So I figured, what the heck, let’s go all out and do blush pink outfit.

#Week28 Bump Report: Only Comfy Clothes Need Apply

March 30, 2018

Daily Ritual Women's Terry Cotton and Modal Sweatshirt Dress in Heather Grey Spacedye

I’ve always been a fan of comfy clothes before, but now that I’m 6-mo pregnant, it’s pretty much all I want to wear. I’m already feeling uncomfortable in my own body, dealing with back ache and chest pains (love you baby girl but you’re squishing my organs), why make myself even more miserable with my clothing?

Emirati Diaries #4: Exploring Abu Dhabi and Dubai in 48hrs

March 26, 2018

Abu Dhabi and Dubai in 48hrs

Often times I tend to be that person that tries to squeeze in too many things in one go. Case in point: trying to visit an entire country in less than one week. But when it came to visiting the Abu Dhabi and Dubai, I had a real chill approach. This mostly has to do with the fact that the two cities happen to fall at the front and tail end of our our trip. So with us recovering from jet lag at the beginning and pushing through the fatigue at the end of the trip, I knew I didn’t want to overexert ourselves. Kinda negates the whole point of a vacation, no? Besides, we really only had a handful of things on our “must do list”.

But through our experience, we learned that are definitely things that we could’ve improve in our itinerary. I can’t exactly turn back time and re-do our trip over again. But doesn’t mean that I can’t help you build the perfect itinerary.

Emirati Diaries #3: Desert Safari

March 20, 2018

Looking for the best luxury desert safari in Dubai? I’ve got you!

UAE is one of the countries within the Arabian Desert, so of course a visit there wouldn’t be complete without a desert safari. I’m typically a do-it-yourself traveler that avoids tour groups. Probably because when I think of them, I picture giant buses and a crowd of overzealous buzzing tourist. So when it came to deciding which company to do the safari with, I made sure to do my research. I can’t have just a good safari, I want the best one out there, ya know?

Emirati Diaries #2: Escape to Ras al-Khaimah

March 16, 2018

Ras Al Khaimah Travel Guide

While most people are probably familiar with Dubai, the crown jewel of UAE tourism, you may not know that there’s a hidden gem of a destination just an hour-and-half drive north: Ras al-Khaimah. This spot ended up being my favorite part of my UAE trip. As soon as we got to the Ritz-Carlton Al Wadi Desert, hubs and I knew we made a mistake by only booking two nights. We were scrambling to figure out how we could squeeze in more nights out of this trip. But of course that was impossible since we’re trying to fit in a whole country within one week.

Throwing Shades (of Red), All Year Long

February 14, 2018

H&M Chunky Red Sweater

Happy Hump Day and happy Valetine’s Day to you beautiful people. Ok so I gotta admit, I’m usually not really big on Valentines Day. Sure it’s a great excuse to be getting chocolates and macaroons (hubby got me super cute ones from Stache of Goods this year). Although I can’t really say I get into the spirit of it, let alone remember to wear red on the day. But thanks to a planned ahead photoshoot with some of my blogger friends, I am prepared this year. Red is actually one of my favorite color. Though typically I only wear it as an accent, like bold red lips or a hat. But hey, since it’s the official color of Valentine’s day, I guess I have an excuse to go nuts on it.

What about you guys? Are you a fan of wearing red, especially on Valentine’s Day? Read on to check out more of my (and my Galentine’s) full outfit and see some of my favorite shades of red pick that will look good on you all year long.

Elevated Casuals

February 12, 2018

Old Navy Two-Button Sweater-Fleece Coat

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Old Navy. All opinions are 100% mine.

Raise of hands: how many of you guys are fans the “Stars Are Just Like Us” section of the celebrity magazines? You know which magazines I’m talking about. The ones that you never really buy, but read while waiting in line at the grocery store or for your nails to dry at the nail salon. The photos typically show celebrity in doing regular everyday things, like going to get brunch. But almost always, even though they are often times in über casual-mode, these celebs seem to master the “looking good without trying too hard” look. That’s the elevated casual vibe I’m trying to emulate with today’s look.

Since comfort is one of my top priority in dressing, I’m all about comfy casual looks. And the combo of the Old Navy power jean and soft sweater-fleece coat is not only comfy, but also mega stylish. So how do you take it to the next level then? One of the easiest way to elevate a casual look is by incorporating a button-up. And depending on the material you pick (go with 100% cotton), this addition doesn’t have to mean that you’re sacrificing comfort one bit. Of course since this look is Old Navy, you won’t need a celebrity stylist budget to recreate it.

What do you think of this look? I feel like the only addition I need to round out this “celebrity incognito” look is a big bug eye sunglasses and a horde of papparazzi following me.

Wrapped and Flattered

January 29, 2018

Urban Outfitters UO Velvet Wrap Tulip Maxi Skirt

It’s so easy to get in a clothing rut during the winter. When I’m feeling particulary uninspired and especially on those days when I wake up too late (which happens quite a bit), the default go-to that pops in my head is typically skinny jeans and comfy sweaters. Now there’s nothing wrong with that, as you may know from past blogs, I have a huge love for oversized comfy sweater. And while jeans is an obvious choice to stay warm in the Winter time, skirts are totally still an option with the addition of tights (or heattech tights on those really chilly days). My favorite lately has been wrapped skirts: they’re flattering for all body types and easy to wear. Not to mention (bonus point) you can wear them well into Spring and maybe even summer, depending on the material.

Chunky and Cozy in Chenille

January 25, 2018

Express Cable Knit Chenille Boat Neck Balloon Sleeve Sweater

In my early 20s, my dressing theme was: sexy sexy sexy. Now that I just turned 34 (fun fact: my birthday is January 22), my dressing theme is: cozy cozy cozy. I mean really though considering the current chilly temps, why would you want to add tight uncomfortable clothes to your list the discomfort. Of course that doesn’t mean I won’t be looking good while feeling cozy. So actually let me update my update that dressing theme to: stylish cozy and comfy. This cable knit chenille boat neck balloon sleeve sweater meets all of the criteria and so it’s been my recent favorite.

Winter Florals

January 23, 2018

Urban Outfitters UO suddenly spring ruffle tie dress

When the weather is warm and the snow has long since melted, floral prints are definitely something you see aplenty. But they’re definitely not something I would typically consider wearing outside of the Spring/Summer months. But as much as I love my solid velvets, I was looking for a change.
Turns out there’s a very easy way to “winterize” floral printed dresses. All you got to do is pair it with an oversized faux-leather jacket, which let’s face it, is a staple that every one should have in their closet (if you don’t have one yet, this beaut from BCBGeneration is on mega sale for only $53). If you’re going for a shorter length dress, like I’ve done in this post, you’ll probably also want to add tights to the ensemble. I find that the sheer options work better here as opaque tights weights down the outfit too much.

What do you guys think? Would you rock floral prints in the snowy months? Read on to see more of this outfit and my other favorite floral printed dress from Urban Outfitters.

Potato Sack Chic

January 17, 2018

Uniqlo WOMEN PONTE I LINE 3/4 SLEEVE DRESS

Shapeless chic: I bet that’s two word that you didn’t think would go together in the same sentence. You guys know that I love me some oversized clothes, and this dress is one of my recent fave. I lovingly call it my potato sack dress. So crazy to think that once upon a time I was so nuts over the bodycon dress, and even considered dropping four-digits for a Herve Leger dress. Now, I couldn’t be happier in a sensibly price sheath dress.

I found this one on mega-sale as it was the last piece at the store and also it was a size too big for me. But hey thats not a problem for me, because that just means I can take my love for oversized to the next level. This dress is unfortunately sold out already — but no worries I got a similar pick lined up for you as well as my other fav sheath dress picks. Read on to check out ore of this outfit and my picks.

Staying Warm with Old Navy Cold Weather Activewear

January 11, 2018

Old Navy Funnel-Neck Pullover Hoodie

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Old Navy. All opinions are 100% mine.

Whether you’ve always been super active or using the New Year as a motivation to get fitter, I think we can all agree that one of the funnest part of working out is shopping for all the cute outfits. The winter weather also gives me an extra reason to go shopping for some cold weather gear. For me, working out is typically just one part of a very long day. Whether it’s a spin class at the end of my work day, or a run followed by brunch and errands on the weekend, my active wear needs to perform double duty. They need to be both gym and street worthy. I find that one of the easiest way to ensure this is to dress mono-chromatically with an accent color: navy and maroon is my pick for this outfit.

But no matter if you’re getting your active wear strictly for the gym or you’re also planning to wear it around town, one thing that is for sure not cool is paying a ton of money on them. Well don’t fret because Old Navy is here to the rescue. They’ve got a great selection of activewear that won’t break your wallet. And don’t get it twisted: just because you’re paying less doesn’t mean you’re sacrificing quality. Read on to see more of my outfit and see a selection of favorite Old Navy activewear items.

Holiday Velvets

December 19, 2017

Old Navy Velvet Wide-Leg Jumpsuit

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Old Navy. All opinions are 100% mine.

When it comes to fall/winter fabrics, nothing is more quintessential than velvet. It’s one of my favorite that I can’t get enough of, and they’re heavy in my wardrobe rotation as soon as the temperature drops. They’re also my go-to for holiday party wear. But for this year I decided to change it up a bit — Instead of going for the regular dresses, I added a jumpsuit into the mix.

Obviously, since I disclosed above that this post is done in partnership with Old Navy, you’ve probably deduced where the jumpsuit comes from. But if I hadn’t mentioned that, would you have guessed that this outfit came from there? They have some seriously gorgeous and luxe velvet items in their current collection that you should really check out. And since they’re Old Navy, you know they’re also going to come at a great affordable price. Read on to see more of this outfit and some of my favorite velvet items from Old Navy.

Winter Ready with Cougar Boots

December 14, 2017

Cougar Anton Waterproof Boot

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cougar Shoes. All opinions are 100% mine.

Before I moved to New York City, all boots were the pretty much same to me. Shopping for them were much simpler as there was really only one main requirement: they need to look good. As my everyday walking mileage was a lot lower, having them be comfortable was just a nice added bonus points.

Well fast forward to the present, things have changed quite a bit. Although the main requirement of “looking good” still holds, I’m taking on quite a few additional asks. The boots need to be comfortable, of course, but most importantly they need to also be season appropriate. New York winters are known to be temperamental and the nastier days can involve tons of snow. So the boots not only need to keep you warm, but also have good tread so that you don’t risk slipping and sliding on the icy pavement. Lucky me, I found Cougar Shoes, which met all of the above requirement. I just love it when form and function come together.
