Soothe On Demand Massage

A few weeks ago I got to try out an in-home sports massage courtesy of Soothe. This experience was a couple of firsts for me: it was my first sports, as well as in-home massage. Even though I initially had some apprehension, at the end I was not disappointed. Matter of fact, it was so good that it left me wondering why I hadn’t tried this earlier.

Welp, learn from my mistake and try it out sooner rather than later. To lessen any apprehension you might have, we’re partnering with Soothe to giveaway a 60-minute massage credit (a $129 value) to one lucky reader. Read on to find out more about my experience and how you can win.

Soothe On Demand Massage

My experience started out by making an appointment on the Soothe app (available for Apple App Store and Google Play).

You can also make an appointment on their website, but I’m that girl that always asks “is there an app for that”, so this was right up my alley.
One of my problem with getting massages is usually timing. It’s not like I plan to have a stressful day or get a crick on my shoulder from overexertion during my workouts, but hey sh*t happens now and then. Unfortunately when that time comes, all of the usual massage spot I hit up will be all booked up. Damn those people with the foresight of planning, crowding up my massage table. But luckily for me, Soothe massage therapist can be there as soon as an hour from the time you book. Yay!

This time though, I actually did plan ahead and booked a Sunday afternoon massage couple of days ahead. Admittedly the biggest reason for my planning is that I was a bit ashamed of my messy apartment and thought that it was probably good idea to at least put away my dirty laundry before the masseuse comes. I decided to go with a sports massage because I felt a bit sore from my boot camp class earlier in the week.

Sunday came and my therapist Rashida texted me to let me know she was on her way. I’m feeling nervous like I’m about to go on a blind date or something (I know I’m weird). Rashida was super nice and explained how everything would work. She brought all of the equipment with her, including massage table and linens. At this point I privately wondered if she took the subway here and if she’s going to need a massage herself after carrying all that stuff, but I digress. One benefit of an in-home massage is that I get to pick my own music. I played something classical, but in hindsight I really wished I put on some hip-hop (who says you can’t get deep-tissue zen while listening to some old school Notorious BIG track).

I’ve gotten a lot of massages, and I can safely say my experience with Soothe is one of the best ones I’ve had. Sports massage is like deep-tissue taken to the next level. You get all of that knot-relieving goodness from the actual massage as well as some extra fabulous stretches that remind me of thai massage (or as I like to call it “yoga for lazy people”). At the end of massages, I’m usually left feeling slightly unsatisfied and wishing the massage could go on a bit longer. But Rashida left me relaxed, invigorated, and ready to face the coming work week. Soothe gives you the option to re-book with a therapist you’ve seen before, so you better believe I’ll be seeing her again.
