I finally got around to sort and post a few of my favorite photos from my ‘manicure day with Kim’! Once I entered her pad, from the corner of my eyes, I spotted a few nail polishes across the room. What I didn’t expect was the fact that Kim has a jaw-dropping beauty product collection that could make a grown women cry. Seriously, this girl had her entire dinning room table covered in goodies (spillin’ onto the floor), I was in girly girl heaven. Shortly after finding my spot at her table, I swiftly conducted a usability session by selecting ten nail colors (trust me, wasn’t easy) and polishing each nail. I finally decided to use Fly from OPI’s Nicki Minaj collection. Then, I added some flare to my ring finger with Opal from Zoya’s Fleck Effect collection. Kim went with Bevin from Zoya’s Spring collection. The day was super fun and definitely going to have a sequel — I’m not done with my usability test of all her nail colors!
I’m not usually one to wear super dark lipstick, but I was so inspired by fellow blogger and lookbooker Sierra‘s look that I decided to try it out. So I took my happy butt over to Neiman Marcus, looked at a few different option (Chanel had an awesome shade that was unfortunately discontinued), and settled on the Rouge d’Armani lipstick.
I am so happy that I decided to this out. Not only did I discover I that I love to embrace the “dark side”, I found my new favorite lipstick brand. The color in Rouge d’Armani acts almost as a lip stain. The color last and when it gradually fades, it leaves a very pretty stain on your lips.

ThunderCats — Ho! Brennen, my son, gets an allowance for doing chores around the house. On this day, he finally saved enough to buy his sword of omens. Brennen was so excited about his new toy that he insisted to be a part of this photo shoot. For the unfamiliars, Lion-O’s sword of omens is from the Cartoon Network’s ThunderCats; it’s a team of cat-like humanoid aliens from the planet Thundera. I used to watch this show as a kid and now it is popular all over again. It’s fun to see all these shows being brought back, and even more fun to geek out about it with your kids!
Hi friends! I’m Kim, from kimberlyloc.com, and I’m excited to share a colorful post with you today. Jess and I had a girly day and decided to get some pictures for our blogs in between manis and mimosas. Be sure to check me out on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram!
I love color, but for some reason, the majority of my wardrobe consists of black, white and gray. This year, I’m resolving to change that. On-trend colored jeans, bold accessories and punchy polish is helping me build a rainbow-bright closet and vanity that makes me smile every morning. Though black and white will always have a place in my wardrobe, I’m jazzing up my usual by selecting interesting patterns, textures and prints to bring a little va-va-voom to boring black and white. Case in point: Instead of pairing my new chevron-print dress with the typical black pleather leggings or dark blue denim, I chose a pop of purple to bring this outfit to life.

As most of you may know, I am obsessed with bowties, so I was really excited to find Bow Tie Cause. This non-profit organization, started by NFL linebacker Dhani Jones, partners with over 30 charitable different organization to support their cause.
I purchased the Boys Hope Girls Hope bow tie a few days ago and I can’t wait for it to come in the mail. What could be better than fashion with a cause? It’s fashion that looks good (and feels good too)!
Below is a few of my favorite bow ties from their collection that I’m eyeing. You can find the full collection of their bow ties and the charity organizations they support at BowTieCause.org.

Our friend and fellow fashion enthusiast, Ciso, shares his view on on one of the original fashion challenge: combining black and brown.
Should you wear those brown Aviator boots with that black or grey shirt? Do the black and brown rules even apply anymore? I ask myself these questions from time to time, prior to me deciding on what to wear. I personally think black and brown or even grey and brown pairs extremely well with each other. I certainly prefer over the unadventurous blue and brown combination.
To be clear I’m no expert when it comes to fashion. Actually, I consider myself to be a Banana Republic conservative, but I like to think the black and brown combination gives my style an edge. I think it’s safe to say that any variation of black and brown or grey and brown is no longer a fashion faux pas. So don’t second-guess yourself or your style. You decide!

I was feeling particularly studious in this outfit so what better place to take some photos than at the library. This giant book shelf facade is on the outside of the parking garage next to a downtown library. I actually like going by the library and checking out books from time to time. Lucky for us, we were able to find one of my favorite titles on the garage, the Wizard of Oz! You know what they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. Especially, when the cover is 20 feet tall. What are some of your favorite books?

There are days that I really miss my long hair and all the different ways I was able to style it. Yeah, there are benefits to having short hair, but I am not sure if it’s as easy as I had imagined. Most of us with short hair do our best to change it up. We accessorize our looks with all sorts of different hats and outfit combos. We wear our hair down, we put it in a ponytail, or sometimes even cover it up with a headband. If you’re looking for another idea, I have the perfect recipe. Today, I am going to show you a fun and an easy way to style your short hair. I am calling this my-twisty-bun but for short hair!
Excited that it is finally getting cold enough for me to bust out my new winter boots, and what better place to wear duck boots than at a duck pond (ha). We had some stale crackers, and at Brennen’s suggestion, we decided to go feed the ducks. It was a beautiful day despite the cold wind, so it ended up being a bomb idea to go out. There were a lot of greedy ducks, and so chattery that our puppy got scared. At some point, I had to put her in my coat for safekeeping.
Lucky for Mimi & Chichi, this look was featured on Elizabeth St. street style for stylish moms, yay!

A few days ago my Jeffrey Campbell Lita Cat Tapestry bootie came in the mail. I immediately fell in love with them. Naturally the shopping-reptilian part of my brain is compulsively pushing me to get more Jeffrey Campbell shoes. I must have more! But which ones?
Well my birthday is coming up in less than two weeks, so I may just get all four MWAHAHAHA! *evil laugh*
Remix— This jacket’s initial debut was here. I like how the pop of its color really transformed my outfit on this gloomy day. This jacket has been one of my favorite thrift finds because of its bold and vibrant color. This goes to show that ‘one man’s junk’ really is this gal’s treasure. Hope this inspires you to try and search for some amazing thrift finds. You never know what you may find!

Our favorite UX blogger and long-time friend Lis is helping spread the word that professional IT women everywhere are not only smart, but fashionable too!
Let’s be real. There are about 5 people out there that even know what a user experience designer is (For those that don’t, user experience designers are professionals that takes the customer/user point of view into account when designing service experiences, website flows and screens, and products. Think about when you are at the spa and someone brings you a drink at just the right time. That isn’t chance, it’s a well designed user experience!). So, now that you know what user experience is, we can talk about what it is about UX (short for user experience) designers that makes them great with fashion. It’s easy! They know how to tell a story with their look.
When it comes to clothing for my son, I’m always on the look out for cute and stylish items without going brizoke. Lets face it, these kiddos grow so quickly that the idea of splurging is just plain crazy. Here are a few super cute finds I recently acquired for Brennen to wear. Some are already on sale and ready for wear and tear.
It’s been an unusually warm winter this year. A year ago, we were buried in two feet of snow and wearing ski gear to stay warm (exaggerating a bit). But this past weekend, I sported my blue jacket from TJ Maxx; it’s one of my favorite finds. I love how this jackets adds a pop of color to my mostly black/brown/plaid winter wardrobe. While we still can, we are soaking our skins with a heavy doze of vitamin D. Hope you’re able to do the same.

Another one of my 2012 resolution is to experiment and take on more fashion risk. I believe that you can’t call yourself a fashionable unless you’ve landed on the worst dress list at least once. Because that would mean that you are too safe—and safe is so boring!
Denim on denim has always been a risky look that not everyone can pull off well. So I thought I would step it up a notch by going triple denim! What do you guys think? Do the denim pieces compliment each other or is it a big ‘ol hot mess fiasco?

This year, one of my resolution is to try more new places to eat—or as I put it to my husband: “to eat the world”. I order to accomplish this resolution and keep my girlish figure, I added another resolution to my list: workout more, so I can eat more. Of course, knowing me, you better believe I’m going to do it in style.
The morning of New Years Eve, we decided to hit up a placed called Paradise Park to partake in their fun ‘ball drop’ activity. It was a blast and not too crowded. We played miniature golf like Pros, rode the bumper cars like we were members of demolition derby team, did laps with go-karts like trained NASCAR drivers, and worked out our arms with the arcades. Then of course, we welcomed the new year 12 hours early with some beach balls! Hope everyone has a great 2012!
