Green Floral

Mark & Spencer Printed Daisy Floral Midi Dress

For me floral is a year-round trend that’s not reserved only for spring. But doesn’t mean I’m going to go for a baby blue and pink floral number. It has to be the right fall color, like burnt orange or deep teal. Another awesome thing about this dress is that transition so well from Summer to Fall, and even to Winter (with the addition of the right jacket and tights).

Like the A.L.C. dress, this was a dress that I got from the ShopStyle Social House. Yes, yes, I know, took me long enough to post it. But you know what? There’s two more dresses transition dresses coming your way. So be on the lookout for it!

Easy Ombré Lip Tutorial + Sephora Gift Card

Two Tone Lip Color Tutorial

I am not one of those people who are blessed with great skin, so the day I discovered make up was an amazing day indeed. You could say that I qualify as a beauty addict and make-up lover. Still, I gotta admit that my routine is fairly simple and usually takes less than 15-minutes to do. Today, I’m sharing a tutorial for the “fanciest” lip trick I have in my make-up repertoire. By fancy, I mean that it takes more than a swipe of one lip color. But really though, it’s super simple to do and takes no time at all.

Read on to find out how it’s done. And as a bonus I also paired up with some wonderful bloggers to do three $175 Sephora gift card giveaway so you guys can get all the supplies to do the ombré lip on us!

Beauty Break with Tazo Tea

September 29, 2016

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tazo®Tea for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Green Tea Honey Face Mask

All the tea lovers in the house raise your hand (got both hands raised over here). Tea is my go-to all day drink. I guess that’s what happens when you work in an office that cranks up the AC on overdrive. When it comes to teas, my favorites are the green blend varieties. Tazo Zen is currently what’s sitting on my work desk and the one that I usually reach for when I need a little warm pick-me-up.

The other day, while I was sipping on my tea and having one of my ADD “let’s ignore work for a few moments” moment, I had a beauty epiphany. The health benefits of drinking tea are widely known. It’s high in antioxidants and has been said to be helpful for everything from burning fat to reducing your risk of cancer. What’s good for inside your body is probably good for your outsides too, right? So I bet my Tazo Zen green tea blend would make for a fabulous face mask ingredient. Plus I’m a huge fan of beauty products made from edible and natural ingredients. A quick search on Google landed me on a whole plethora of DIY tea face mask that’s just begging for me to try. Can you say: hello weekend beauty project?

Black, White, and Eyeballed

Black Swan Clothing Pale White Fleur Sheer Top

In the past, I’ve usually stuck to the rule of having at least one piece of form fitting clothes on me. Either I’ll pair oversized tops with legging-ish pants, or I’ll tuck in form fitting tops into palazzo pants/ full skirts. One way or the other, the final outfit will include some kind of defined waist.
But sometimes you’re just in the mood for loose over-sized clothing. I decided to break the mold this time by pairing a pleated palazzo pant with an untucked white blouse. Being a 4’11’ shorty pants one thing that for sure has to go with an oversized-everything outfit (for me anyway) is a pair of high heels.
I gotta say I’m loving the effect and there’s something that feels high fashion about it. Defined waist, you’re so 2000-and-late!

Striped Honeycomb-Mesh Midi Dress

Albeit it being a ton of fun, fashion week is probably one of the most tiring time of the whole year. It’s a week of non-stop crazy shows, after party and trekking to-and-from events that are spread out through out the city. Add an advertising day job on top of your blogging alter ego, and it makes for an even more hectic existence. During fashion week, all my outfits have to be carefully planned to meet the style and longevity test. That’s why I am just obsessed with this dress from Self Portrait, as it made for a perfect NYFW outfit. Not only is it stylish but it also practically wrinkle resistant. Because nobody is a fan of the dreaded belly crease on dress.

A.L.C. Jardani Belted Floral Silk Mini Dress

One of my favorite perks of being a fashion blogger is all of the events we get to go to during NYFW. One of those events that I always look forward to is the ShopStyle Social House. Not only do I get to catch up with fellow bloggers while sipping on rosé, there’s of course the oodles of freebies (read: upcoming giveaway for my awesome readers) and clothes for us to borrow from their huge closet. Just picture that scene from Devil Wears Prada where Andy raided the Vogue closet. A girl could not be any happier.

So admittedly, I grabbed this A.L.C. dress at the event thinking that it was a romper. The print and structure immediately got my attention, so I knew I had to have it. It wasn’t until I was trying it on that I discovered my error and thought “hold up, where’s the other pant hole.” But it turned out to be a happy mistake since dresses makes for a better Summer to Fall transition pieces than rompers. Also since this dress has high neck and long sleeve, it can probably be worn all through the winter with the addition of some tights.

Backpack Obsessed + $550 PayPal Cash Giveaway

September 1, 2016

Nordstrom Backpack Roundup
Update: Congratulations to Kimberly O. on winning this giveaway!

You know why I love paying with my phone? The main reason is because I usually have my phone on hand. But also I hate reacing for my wallet in my bag. Those of you who are a fan of the oversized tote probably know what I’m talking about. That dread of having to rummage through your bag to look for something.
Living in New York, for me there is no way around having lots of “stuff” in your bag. At any given day, the things I’m carrying can consist of: gym clothes, tennis shoes, toileterries, and sometimes even work laptop. So in other words A LOT of stuff. Usually I trek these things around in an oversized tote bag. But lately I’ve been doing the switch to using backpacks more. Aside from the benefit of extra compartments that some backpacks have, I also like the extra comfort. You no longer have to switch carrying the bag on your left or right shoulder to distribute the weight (only to get a sore shoulder anyway from carrying too much weight on one side).

On today’s blog I’m sharing nine of my favorite backpack picks. And even better, I’ve partnered with a few blogger buddies for a Paypal cash giveaway, so you can get yourself one (or two or three) of these backpacks.

Read on to see my faves and find out how you can win.

Desirelist

List, list, list! This organization obsessed girl just loves her lists. It’s true that I’ve got a list for pretty much everything: things to do, places to go, groceries to buy. But my most favorite of them all is the list of fashion must-haves I want.
I’ve recently found a new medium to make my beloved lists: Desirelist. Like the name suggest, it is a personal registry for all your desires. And since these lists are made for sharing, they’re super helpful for letting your friends and family know what exactly to gift you. For birthdays, christmases, or you know, whenever they’re just feeling really generous. Getting a gift is great, but getting what you actually want is even better.

A few weekends ago, Jess and I partnered with Out Of Office NY and some blogger buddies for a Desirelist photoshoot. Even though it was a very warm August day, we had tons of fun — even chewie bear joined in the shoot.
While we were posing and cheesin’ it up, we got to chatting with Amanda of East Coast Fox on what six items would make our fashion must-have. It wasn’t easy to narrow it down, but I think we came up with a fine list. And what’s even better, we’ll be giving away all the items on said list to one lucky reader. Read on to see more photos from our shoot session and find out how you can win.

Liberti Love Lariat Necklace and Coordinate Ring
Update: Congratulations to Jill M. on winning this giveaway!

I’m a firm believer that fashion is a powerful tool. It can not only make you look like a million bucks, but also make you feel great and empower you to take on the world. But my favorite kind of fashion are the ones that take it a step further and bring on a positive change not just to yourself, but to the world around you as well.
Enter: Liberti. Their jewelry collection is beautiful, that’s for sure. But what makes them extra special is their company’s mission as represented by their Less Than One Percent campaign.
Not so fun fact: did you know that there are 14.4 million refugees of concern around the world. Of this vast number, less than one percent are submitted and processed for resettlement to a new country. Their mission is to elevate awareness for the less than one percent of refugees fortunate enough to escape the brutality of camps.

It’s been awhile since we’ve had Giveaway Friday, so I thought we should have a very special one today featuring Liberti. One lucky reader will win themselves a set of the very lovely love lariat necklace and coordinate ring. Read on to see more photos and find out how you can win.

Classically Denim

The Limited Button Front Denim Pencil Skirt

I don’t know about you guys, but most of my go-to outfits usually involve some kind of denim. Plain denim is like the tofu of the fashion world. On their own, they might be a bit boring and flavorless. But they serve as a great palate for dressing up and take on the flavor of everything else you pair it with. This means the same piece can be worn super casual or dressed it up as much as you want.
Of course the most obvious denim go-to are jeans (or short shorts in the case of crazy hot weather like we’ve been having lately). To vary it up a bit, I’ve been adding the button front denim pencil skirt from The Limited to my denim repertoire. The skirt is so versatile and matches with literally every top I own. Pair it with a simple tee for a great casual wear. Or add a blazer and heels to that combo, and you’ll look polished enough for a client meeting at work. But from my most recent blog posts, you can probably guess what my favorite pairing for this skirt is: off-shoulder tops.

Off Shoulder In Pink

August 17, 2016

Kimchi Blue Smocked Off-The-Shoulder Top

See I told you I was obessesed with the off-shoulder trend, because here comes another blog post featuring one.
After all my foray with off-shoulder tops and rompers, I found that they’re not all created equal. My favorite ones are the one that comes with a separate elastic band for your arm. Or, alternatively one that has very stretchy and forgiving elastic band around the top. Why does this matter so much? Well if you plan on keeping your arms and hands below shoulder level at all times, it wouldn’t be such a big deal. But if you want to move your arms around like a regular human being, the “inferior” off-shoulder items would easily ride up (or even worse give you a wedgie if it’s an off-shoulder romper). So this might be one of those items you want to try on at a brick and mortar store rather than buying online — or you can buy those that have been vetted by yours truly.

After finding your fave off-shoulder top, all you gotta do is find a matching wall so you can take that perfect instagram photo😉.

Romwe Yellow Pom Pom Trim Ruffle Off The Shoulder Top

I have been a bit obsessed with the off-shoulder and poms trend lately. I love them both separately, so then I thought: why not combine it? To do this, I literally just googled “off shoulder poms” and this Romwe crop top is what I found. Not long after purchasing the top, as if it was fated, Ettika jewelry contacted me to see if I wanted to try out their stacked choker. Who knew the combo would be one of those match made in fashion heaven. Chokers are very much the perfect accompaniment for crop-tops.

Doublehighfive Bk Recycled Plastic Bag Bracelet

I took this photo about a month ago in Texas, and booooooy was the weather HOT. When the temperature get’s that crazy and humid, I don’t even feel like fussing around with dressing up fancy. In this kind of heat, I go for the tried and true: jeans and plain tee. Then I pair it up with a couple of complimentary accessories, like this set of recycled plastic bracelet from Doublehighfive Bk.

Zara Dress

This dress is another acquisition from the Zara sale a couple weeks ago. just like my tartan dress, this floral beauty was a last chance grab. I just love when I find that the last dress available is exactly my size — it’s like a sign from the universe that I need to get it. Plus, not only is the print and flowy material perfect for summer, it’s also the perfect maxi length for me. No adjustments needed! Now that’s almost as rare as finding long jumpers that will fit my shorty stature without alterations.

American Apparel Printed Rayon Mid-Length Tie-Up Blouse

As a blogger, and a photo taking addict, I love finding quirky walls that serves as great backdrops for my snapshots. I especially love it when the background happens to also match my outfit. I mean what are the chances that I’ll find a wall as wacky as my pink printed shirt. Times like this makes me think that I should make a database of all the cool locales to take photos in (I wonder if there’s an app for that).

Heio cube mitjana small crossbody

This lucky girl is fortunate enough to enjoy a fairly sizable closet for New York standards. Even then, my modest walk-in closet is almost at the breaking point where I need to take stuff out in order to bring something in. So when I’m considering whether to add a piece to my collection, whether it be clothing or accessories, I think long and hard about how it’s going to fit with the rest of the things I already own. Nevertheless, every so often I find one of those items that I just instantaneously fall in love with that makes me throw all caution to the wind.
