OMG it feels like it’s been sooooooooo long since I wrote a blog. Not gonna bore you guys with the full details, but basically some personal drama in my life made me decide to take a step back and take a little break from blogging and social media. In reality it’s been no longer than a week. But damn my sabbatical is long enough that I am starting to get withdrawals from it. So hello, I’m back (for good)!
There’s nothing I love more for the summer than easy-to-wear dresses. My faves are the kinds that are loose, non-restrictive and has that “swingable” quality to it. You know what I’m talking about: dresses that are made out of billowy material that you just can’t help but twirl in. As far as length goes, I’m a fan of all, but I do tend to go for the longer maxi dresses. The problem is when you’re extra short like me (read: 4’11”), it can be extra tough finding the perfect maxi dress that’s not too long. Sure you can shorten the dress, but who wants to spend extra money doing that? Plus some dresses have trimming that makes it near impossible to shorten. If you’re lucky, the store that you’re shopping at may sell a petite version of the dress. But what’s the other alternative in finding a longer length dresses for shorties when there is no petite sizing?
The not-so-obvious answer is to shop for midi-length dresses instead. This lightweight crochet-trim swing dress from Old Navy fits the bill as my perfect summer dress. Looking at this dress, you’d probably think that it’s a maxi dress, right? Well it’s actually a midi dress that’s supposed to hit mid-calf on a regular person. But I am such a shorty, that it’s falling more around my ankle.
