Easy Maxi

June 14, 2012

The maxi trend is still going strong for the summer, especially the maxi dress. If you haven’t tried it out yet, it’s time get on board. We’ve got some tips on the easy way to wear maxi dresses — guaranteed to make you look slimmer, taller, and of course über fashionable!

Tip #1: Uncomplicate your life with solid colors
I love the versatility of these bold-colored dresses — they look great on their own and also easy to accessorize.

Tip #2: Blazers can do magic!
Take your maxi dresses from weekend-wear to work-wear by adding a blazer. Choose one that’s not too constructed and a bit more on the ‘business casual’ side, like the soft waterfall jacket from Dorothy Perkins. I also like to scrunch up the sleeves of the blazer to make it look even more casual.

Tip #3: Go big on accessories
The beauty of solid colored dresses is that they make an awesome canvas for statement jewelry, like this aquamarine necklace KEZEN for Boticca.

Tip #4: Heels + Maxi Dress = Supermodel Height
The key to creating the illusion of height is to make sure the dress cuts just a bit below your ankle. I love nude colored heels, like the Shellie sandal from DV by Dolce Vita, since they go with pretty much everything.

Tip #5: Good ol’ sock bun to the rescue
The sock bun hairstyle is my best friend and favorite hairstyle when I’m feeling lazy. I also think a high sock bun (in addition to the heels) will add to the illusion of height.
