One of the things that’s awesome about Summer is not just the wardrobe changes it brings, but also the food changes. Restaurants open up for al fresco dining and you see more ice cream vendors on the street. Best of all, this season brings an increase in availability of some food, like Maryland crabs and Maine lobsters.
Until pretty recently, I was allergic to these delicious crustaceans. But being the
fat kid foodie that I am, I always steal a bite here and there whenever friends or family are having some. My allergies would make my mouth itch and complain (and I got very little sympathy because I ate the food knowing that I’m allergic to it). Until one day I discovered I wasn’t allergic any more. OH JOY!
Now I eat crabs, shrimp, and lobsters like there’s no other protein on the menu. One of the best places in NYC to get these yummies is at Fish Restaurant (West Village). In the summertime, they have all you can eat crabs everyday from 12-4 pm for $22! Unfortunately on this day, I was too late to get some crabs. But it didn’t stop me from getting some lobster. Om nom nom!
