Express Yourself

Express Flat Front Culottes

Man it’s been a long time since I’ve donned a pair of culottes. I was a little bit hesitant on jumping back on this trend bandwagon, but I just couldn’t resist when I saw this piece from Express. I mean, that vivid color though! My hesitation with culottes has to do with my short height. I always feel that wide-legged pants can drown my 4’11” shorty pants stature and give me that clown-pants vibe. But thankfully all of that could be remedied by a good pair of heels. In this case, I chose to pair the culottes the chunky Ophelia heels from Coach that is still comfortable enough to actually allow me to walk around the city in my newly acquired pants.

Leather & Chambray

Madewell Chambray Shirt H&M Skirt

I decided to go a little dark for today’s blog outfit, but I didn’t quite wanted to go all black. Not that I’ve got anything against all black, mind you (sometimes I wonder it’s a requirement to be a New Yorker). So then, rather than going the all black route, I paired my faux leather skirt with a dark denim chambray shirt and an Isabella Fiore bag I lovingly call my “couch upholstery chic” bag. Top all of this with a burgundy lipstick and we have ourselves a dark look that Wednesday Addams would approve.

Back To Basics

March 2, 2016

ASOS Brady Boyfriend Jeans

When I’m feeling stumped about what to wear, I just go back to the basics by pairing my favorite distressed jeans with some classic colors: black, tan, and grey. These colors almost always work together well, they’re like the adult’s version of Geranimals. Of course, then I’d have to kick it up a notch — a nerdy notch that is. I could never find enough occasion to wear my time turner necklace (yeah, self professed Harry Potter nerd over here) but this outfit is just the perfect backdrop for it.

Go Enjoy!

Go Enjoy

All the stuff that you can get delivered in New York City never ceases to amaze me. From groceries to electronics, and heck even kittens and puppies can be procured at a moment’s whim. While I haven’t tried getting cat cuddles delivered to my door, I did recently discover a super cool way buy new technology, called Enjoy, that takes the delivery game to the next level. Not only does Enjoy deliver, but they’ll also set up and walk you through the product so you can get the most out of it. Read on to find out about my experience in getting the Withings Activité Pop and Smart Body Analyzer from them.
(Spoiler alert: there will be a $50 coupon at the end of this post)

ShopStyle Social House Haul

February 22, 2016

Nicole Miller Crop Top

This past fashion week me and some blogger buddies attended the super fun ShopStyle Social House. There was of course tons of awesomeness to be had at the event, among which are racks and racks of clothes we can try on and borrow from. Picture one of those scenes from a fashion movie where the main character gets to go hog wild at the giant sample-sized closet, and that’s basically how I felt perusing the racks. I kinda wanted to take everything home with me.

Ultimately what called the most to me was this white Nicole Miller crop top. Crazy, I know, considering the event occurred during a day when the temperature was below freezing. But it was just too fabulous to resist and I knew I had to find a way to make it work. Luckily the temperature has raised considerably since that day (let’s hope it stays this way).

Florals and Faux Leather

February 17, 2016

Aritzia Talula Morton Jacket

It’s been cold cold cold in New York City. And in case you’re wondering: yes I was kind of freezing my tushie off in this outfit. But ah I’m getting so sick of my tights, and I really wanted to go bare legged when I took this photo. Sometimes you just gotta bare the extreme weather a bit in the name of fashion. Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow, which means that we have an early spring coming our way. But if I don a lot of florals in my outfit, maybe it’ll feel like spring even earlier.

Rag & Bone Blankett Coat

New York was so frigidly cold this past weekend, it makes a girl want to just hibernate all day at home and skip all of the New York Fashion Week fun. Thank good for the blanket coat, on loan from Style Lend. If you’ve never heard of this service, you really got to check it out. Style Lend lets you borrow and lend designer clothes. Because really, why spend a ridiculous amount of money on a statement piece you’re only going to wear a few times. It’s just perfect for high fashion times of the year like NYFW where I can really go broke if I were to buy a new piece for every day of the week.

Try it out yourself and get $10 off your order with code GITA6C49F.

Cancun Casuals

January 28, 2016

I’ve only been back less than a week and already I’m missing Cancun so much. I mean who wouldn’t miss the wonderful staff of J.W. Marriott catering to your every whim while you soak up the sun. Though, what I probably will miss more than pool-side service is being able to wear short shorts, crop tops, and of course walking barefoot on the beach. Don’t worry shorts, we’ll see each other in a few months (or maybe shorter if I get weak and book an impromptu beach vacay).

Backpacks

January 13, 2016

backpack

I don’t post a lot of blog shots with bags/purses. It isn’t because I don’t use one but because I get lazy and tend to have the same bag all the time unless we are going out then I’ll change it up to match my outfit. Right now I’m super obsessed with my backpack and backpacks in general. I actually haven’t switched from this bag for a few months now and to top it off I’m shopping for another black backpack… what can I say I like what I like.

Crazy Cat Collar

Choies White Cat Pattern Collar Pocket Detail Long Sleeve Shirt

Ok so I promised there would be tons more #meow in 2016, so of course the fourth blog of the year has got to be cat related. I was so excited to find this shirt at Choies — they have so many cat themed clothing on the cheap, it was really difficult to restrain myself from going overboard. I’m happy to report that I didn’t, and only purchase two items (the other cat-lady item will of course be featured in an upcoming future blog).

This cat collared shirt is a perfect match with the Lord Nermal phone case I just got. If you follow our instagram, you might remember that my sister has a similar case. At first, I thought it might be a bit weird to have the same phone case as my sis. But then I realized since she has the iPhone 6 and I have the 6S Plus, which is bigger. I thought it would be perfect, since I am big sis after all. I can’t wait to see her next, at which point we naturally will photograph our cases side-by-side. I mean, you can’t just let an Instagram moment like that pass, can you? ☺

Denim Jacket

January 3, 2016

Brandi Melville Amara Jacket

One of my shopping mission of the past holiday break was to find a new boyfriend denim jacket. I already had mentally prepared myself to brave the holiday crowd to hunt for that perfect jacket, when I saw that my sister was wearing exactly I wanted. What can I say my sis has good taste, so of course I had to copy her. Did I mention that said jacket from Brandi Melville was only $40? Score! Even better, the denim piece goes so perfect with my newly acquired Dagne Dover tote.

Snowman

SNOWMAN Slice Raincoat

First post of the year! Hope everybody had a bangin’ New Year’s Eve last night. I’m still on my holiday break at my parents, enjoying the mild Texas winter (none of the crazy Minnesota snow Jess is having). So this snowman jacket was the perfect Texas travel companion. I daresay as soon as I get back to New York, this jacket is probably getting retired to the coat closet until early spring. Unless that is, we get more of those freakish global warming unseasonal high temps.
