Currently on high rotation — drawstring backpack and slip-on shoes. I tend to wear things out after I purchase them, especially when they are easy pieces like these.
Happy Monday!

You know what my shopping weakness is? Those goddang emails Madewell and JCrew sends me to let me know they’re having a sale. I swear I’m so weak to it. I tell myself: oh let’s just look and not buy anything. Yeah right. This gorgeous blue dress is my latest acquisition from said sale. I mean when you get extra 40% off of the already sale price, it’s a crime to not buy it, right?
Now that the weather is nice we can enjoy a picnic by the the river, take the fluff ball for walks, and enjoy brunch at a patio table. I don’t know about you, but I’m trying to soak up as much summer as possible.
What are some of your FAV summer activities?
The weather has been so unbelievably hot in New York City lately. If I were to close my eyes and tune out the traffic noise, the heat would make you think you’re in Texas instead of farther up north. Still, that’s still not going to stop me from going out and enjoying the day. To beat the heat, romper is my uniform of choice, especially one in a bright colorful pattern. Pair it with a playful vintage inspired bird necklace, and you’ve got a winning summertime outfit.
I really love the light that seemingly surrounded me during this shoot. It’s like an aura was flowing from this look (HAHA). Back to the clothes, I really wanted to get a fringe skirt for a while now but didn’t want to invest in one because I rarely wear skirts… couldn’t justify the cost (sad face). Luckily I found this more affordable option, YAY!
Update: Congratulations to Megan T. on winning this giveaway!
Our last giveaway Friday was all about the bags, this time is all about the shoes. Since, you know, one can never have enough shoes in their closet. One lucky reader will get a $50 gift card to get themselves one of these gorgeous pair (or any of the other cuties from Nordstrom).

As part of my “See Your City” adventure, I visited Governors Island this past weekend. I can’t believe I’ve lived here a few years and have just now gone there, especially considering it was only a super short ferry ride away. Me being my slowpoke self, of course didn’t get there until late in the afternoon. So we only had a couple of hours of sillyness on bikes. I’m definitely planning on coming back and with better planning this time so I get there earlier and have more time to spend. There are surprisingly tons to do there: from biking, enjoying the food cart fare and art installation, to getting a history lesson at Colonel’s row.
If you have plans on visiting New York City, you definitely should add this to your itinerary. It’s one of those spots that not many tourist knows about. Plus the ferry ride from Battery Park is only $2, and you can get a kick ass view of the city and Statue of Liberty from there. That’s so much better than paying $30 for the mega crowded tourist boat, right?
One color top that I have multiple of in my closet is white. White is always a fashion forward color and the perfect companion for those statement and patterned bottoms, like the checkered skirt by Nathalie Du Pasquier for American Apparel.
The latest edition to my closet is this delicate, girly white dress from Voodoo Vixen. It’s a little bit of a change from my normal aesthetic, but I really love the clean look and eyelet details. I decided to wear it with a denim jacket, baseball cap, and booties to try and play down the girly factor. Next time I’ll probably pair it with sneakers and a sweatshirt for a casual summer weekend look. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
It’s no secret from our last few blogs that Jess and I are a fan of basic pieces. Well call this maxi skirt an upgraded basic. The flowiness and sheen of the material elevates any casual ensemble that it’s a part of. The skirt is versatile enough that I’ve even worn it dressed up for a wedding. It looks and feel so luxe, you wouldn’t believe that I got it from Forever 21.
We linked up this look with Elegantly Dressed and Stylish today!
We spent the weekend exploring the smaller lakes and parks in our area. It was nice to get away from the crowds, have a picnic lunch, and relax. Hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend as well.

Another shot from our weekend in Chicago. There was a brief rain storm which ended up being a blessing in disguise because we were able to take shots on the bridge without a bunch of people in the background.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday!
It seems like when I can’t decide what colors to wear, my fallback is usually involves a combo of black and some other muted color. Usually I go with gray, but this time I decided to go with a bronzy brown pairing. Add gold accessories and rouge lipstick, and I am good to go.
Just getting back from a weekend in Chicago and I already miss all the yummy food. This wasn’t our first trip to Chicago, but it was our first trip out that we didn’t get rained or snowed out — aka tourist trip #selfie.
Have you been to Chicago, What was your FAV thing to do?

I love brilliant tropical prints. Other than the obvious fact that it’s so perfect for the summer, there’s just something about the punch of bright colors that brings a smile to your face.
Today I’m back to wearing black, my signature color, with a side of fluff. Because everything is better with a side of fluff!
Hope everyone is having a great week.
One of my favorite things, besides this fluffy ewok, is a chambray top. It’s one of my closet items that I practically live in. It’s just such a versatile piece that I like to think goes with everything in my closet. I admit to owning 5-6 variations of the chambray top AND I may or may not keep looking at more when I shop.
Today I’m sharing some of my top chambray shirt picks, that are on sale for the holiday weekend. Happy shopping and have a great weekend!
