I have recently been shopping obsessed with this online boutique… Sheinside. Not to the point where I ordered a new wardrobe or anything. It is just that they have a lot (I’m not exaggerating) of CUTE stuff and pretty legit deals. Now I know you’re thinking WTH is this a sponsored post or something and NAH it isn’t at all. Just wanted to share the love!

P.S. For all the #catladies (aka Gita) they have tons of cat clothing too.

Truly Madly Deeply Cat Crop Top

Another cat print? What can I say, I really am a cat lady. ☺

This crop-top was actually an impulse purchase from Urban Outfitters last winter. I was waiting in line to pay when I saw it just lying around near the register. The print was really cute and it was on sale, but I don’t usually wear crop tops (for fear of showing my non-fit winter belly). Good thing my sister convinced me because it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites.
Now back to my diet and workout plan, so I can use the crop-top as it’s intended. LOL

Recipe: Ooey Gooey Cake Cookie

May 8, 2014

Don’t worry, you didn’t read the blog title wrong. Today’s recipe is simultaneously a cake and a cookie because it’s a cookie make out of a cake mix (get it). This recipe is hands down one of my favorite because it’s super easy to do. And I’m not even exaggerating when I say that most people I serve this to has a hard time eating just one.

This recipe, one of Paula Deen’s, originally calls for a chocolate cake mix. But I found that you can pretty much use any cake mix you want. I’ve done it with Devil’s Food, Red Velvet, and even Vanilla with an added pink food coloring for a baby shower. I’m making today’s cookie for a wedding shower, so I thought I’d leave it plain white for that “bride-y” feel.

Ready to make a batch of your own? Read on to find out how easy it is to make these mega delicious cookies.

Back in Black

Mono B. Black Cutout Dress

As Jess pointed out in our last blog, I have been a tad crazy with the floral prints lately. So I decided to change it up a bit and go all black for today’s post. It may not be traditionally spring, but at least this way I’ll stand out against the spring flowers☺. I wore this dress on windy day, which was perfect since the feeling of the blowing wind on my maxi dress always makes me feel girly and pretty.

JCrew Emerald Pool Print

May 5, 2014

JCrew cutaway top & pencil skirt

I’ve been into matchy-matchy top/bottom sets lately since they are quite the money-smart investment. How so? You can pair them together and have a cute ‘dress-like’ outfit, or wear them separately for a different look. So much better bang for your buck than buying a dress in the same print or color. I will definitely get my money’s worth out of this Emerald Pool print top and pencil skirt, together and separately.

White Blazer With The Rolled-Up Sleeves

May 1, 2014

Yumi Kim Romper and H&M Jacket

Every time I wear this blazer, it always makes me think of Det. James Crockett of Miami Vice. I’m talking about the one Don Johnson played (none of that Colin Farrell nonsense of the remake).

The blazer was the perfect compliment for another Yumi Kim romper that I scored at last weekend’s sample sale. The combo of the bright tropical pattern of the romper plus the lightweight jacket just feels very Miami, don’t you think? Makes me wish I was actually there.

5 Tips to Stretch Your Beauty and Wardrobe Budget

1. KNOW WHAT’S IN YOUR CLOSET
Keeping your closet clean and organized (so you know what’s in there) can help you save money. Not only will it prevent you from buying things you already have, it will also help ensure that whatever new items you get pair well with the items in your closet. Nothing is more of a money-waster than buying clothes you only wear once or twice.
Super-organized fashionistas can take it to the next level by downloading apps like StyleBook that will help you create a virtual catalog of your closet.

Recipe: “Reese’s Surprise” Cupcake

April 29, 2014

Usually Jess is the resident baker on Mimi & Chichi. But since homegirl just started the ’21 Day Fix’ diet yesterday, I thought I’d take over #FatKid duties for a few weeks. (Look away, Jess. Don’t make eye contact with the cupcakes!)

I first saw this candy stuffed cupcake recipe on Sarah Frye’s blog, Life Of A Frye. I thought her idea of using leftover Cadbury eggs was ingenious, even though I don’t care much for Cadbury eggs. But that doesn’t mean the concept cannot be adopted for other candies. And since I love Reese’s peanut butter cups, that seems to be the most logical option for me.

Truth be told, I was tempted to take the super lazy shortcut and make this cupcake with store bought cake mix. But I thought I’d do Sarah’s recipe justice and construct it from scratch. Turns out it really wasn’t that hard. Read on to find out how you can make these yummy decadent cupcakes in about 30 minutes.

Yumi Kim Sample Sale Finds

April 28, 2014

Yumi Kim Dress

This past weekend I went crazy at visited the Yumi Kim sample sale — and boy did score some finds. I got myself two jumpers and a pair of dolce vita flats for $170 (which by the way at full price this would cost almost $500). Of course I left the sale super giddy and this romper was the star finds of all the goodies I got. And so my affair with Yumi Kim continues…

Back-Up

April 23, 2014

The other week was filled with a few memorable events for me. The first, was my sister’s wedding in Vegas (YAY!) followed unfortunately by spraining my ankle (Note the swollen-ness in picture, OUCH!). Which ultimately leads to me, pictured sans heels. I originally planned to wear a pair of Manolos with this outfit but alas had to go with my back-up shoes. One thing to remember when packing for a trip is to always bring a pair of flats! You never know if your feet are going to hurt AND you def never wanna go barefoot.

Hukkster is every fashion bargainer’s best friend. This app allows you to track items in your wish list and notifies you when that item goes on sale. You may not splurge on that $200 J.Crew blazer, but if the price just went down to $50, why not?
CON: The app is only available on iPhone & iPad, and you can only track prices of items from participating retailers. Most big retailers, like Nordstrom and Saks, are part of the group; but I wish it works on smaller sites like YumiKim.

Yumi Kim’s Floral Temptation

April 21, 2014

Yumi Kim Lena Tank & Cara Floral Silk Top

Have you guys ever found an outfit that you just HAD to get even though your wallet and bank account is screaming for you not to. Well this outfit was exactly that. I went in to Yumi Kim with the plan to just “browse around”. Yeah right! Should have known better that there’s no way I could have gone into that store and not get anything.

There was actually a few pieces there that caught my eye, including the museum row dress, but this floral print skirt and top won out in the end. I totally blew my shopping budget out of the water that weekend and felt a bit of buyers remorse afterwards. But the bad feelings lasted only until I put the skirt and top back on again. Nothing cheers me up more than pretty floral prints on a pretty sunny day. So I say the price was worth every penny!

Outfit Combo: blouse from Yumi Kim, skirt from Yumi Kim, heels from Stuart Weitzman, necklace from ModCloth .

Who loves butter cookies aka Madeleines — (hand raised) ME, ME! It’s basically the perfect dessert, as it is a cookie and a cake all in one (hello, fat kid heaven). This recipe was concocted after I accidentally purchased rose water in bulk from Amazon. YES, I know what you’re thinking … HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN? So instead of only one bottle I now have three, which means: prepare yourself for recipes galore using rose water (ching)!

In The Nude

April 16, 2014

American Apparel Sleeveless Lace Chiffon Dress

This über-girly outfit definitely is a departure from my boyish grunge look last Tuesday. What can I say? I’m an equal opportunity stylist!
While I’m usually a fan of color, I thought it would be fun to go (almost) entirely nude this time. However, just because I’m going nude doesn’t mean it should be plain or boring — and nothing cures plain and boring like a pair of Leia-style double sock bun. Tack on a fuzzy wine clutch plus matching lipstick, and I’m ready to hit the town…in the nude!

American Apparel Denim Shortalls

The weather this past weekend has been the best so far this year. I almost couldn’t believe it, if it wasn’t for my errand trip earlier in the morning. My usual modus operandi for figuring out what to wear is to look outside the window and see what people in the streets have on. Seeing a whole lot of jackets on the street, I quickly grabbed my hoodie before heading out to run errands. Yeah, it took less five minutes before I got hot and sweaty walking around.
