My “Imaginary Thai Vacation” Souvenir

May 9, 2013

Every time I wear this hat, people keep asking me if I just got back from a Thai vacation. Although I sincerely wish this was the truth, the hat’s origin is actually somewhere less exotic: my local Urban Outfitters store. I guess I’m just going to have to go on a vacation to Phuket. This way next time someone asks me, I can truthfully say that I did just get back from Thailand.

Outfit Combo: hat from t-shirt Urban Outfitters, jeans from Uniqlo, shirt from Uniqlo, sunglasses from Emporio Armani, boots from Dolce Vita, skull necklace from Brandi Melville, bag from Botkier.

May 6, 2013

ET VOILA, here it is! As if it wasn’t already obvious enough that I’m the crazy cat lady, now you can tell from my nails too.

Read on to learn how to do this design…

Homiès

April 17, 2013

Rollin’ with the Homiès — South Central

How cute is this Brian Lichtenburg tee! When I first discovered these I about died. Talk about the perfect play on words, the different styles still crack me up. Plus if you have ever been to Korea (or Chinatown in NYC), then you totes see the irony in these shirts, as it makes fun of the counterfeit engrish (at least it does in my world). HAHAHA

A Stroll on Brooklyn Bridge

April 16, 2013

Believe it or not, in the six months that I’ve lived in New York, I never once crossed the Brooklyn Bridge on foot. So last Sunday, I talked my hubby into going for a romantic afternoon stroll down the bridge. Unfortunately, about elevety bajillion tourist had the same idea as me, so the walk wasn’t quite what I had pictured in my mind.
It’s all good though, since we made up for it by walking to Little Italy and having a romantic dinner afterwards. I did also try to talk him into having spaghetti kiss à la Lady and the Tramp, but I wasn’t so successful at that…

Outfit Combo: dress from Topshop, hat from Topshop, stockings from Spanx from ASOS, bag, sunglasses from ASOS, boots from Zara.

Nail Design Tutorial: Metallic + Neon Green Ombre

April 10, 2013

I was looking for a spring nail design to do and knew I wanted something ‘green’, but I wasn’t quite ready for the flower fields that spring is usually connected to. While browsing the net, I had seen an ombre nail design in which the effect was accomplished using a sponge. I had decided to try this out using neon green and silver polish for an edgy spring nail design.

It looks complicated, but it’s surprisingly not hard to do. Read on to find out how!

Lunching In Brooklyn

April 8, 2013

I trekked it to Brooklyn for a girl’s lunch date this past Saturday. I know “trekked” sounds a bit dramatic just for trip to brooklyn. But considering I had to make a detour back home (I realized I left my phone) and then found out that the 6 train is shut down for the weekend when I got back to the subway station, getting to Brooklyn was quite the ordeal.

But it’s all good in the end. We had a delicious lunch at Five Leaves, shopped and racked considerable damage to our credit cards bills, and best of all I got to debut my new Wildfox gold owl cuff that I got from ChicPeek!

I’m totally in love with this bracelet and can’t believe how much a steal it was. You can get this bracelet for $30 (or less depending whether you are a ChicPeek member and what kind of membership you have).
I have a feeling I’m going to be a ChicPeek regular.

Outfit Combo: gold owl cuff from Wildfox (via ChicPeek), thrifted dress, sunglasses from Emporio Armani, hat from H&M (find similar here and here), bag from Matt & Nat, faux leather from Romeo and Juliet Couture, boots from Zara.

Get Right for the Summer Wardrobe

April 4, 2013

Swimsuit season is fast approaching and it’s making me nervous!
This nervousness probably has a lot to do with my continuing affair with tonkatsu ramen and fried egg cheeseburger (among others). I think it’s about time for me to visit Totto Ramen a lot less and the gym a lot more often. I don’t think is going to be easy, but at least now I have a good excuse to buy new gym gear. Here are just a few items I’m coveting:

(listed left-to-right, top-to-bottom)
Under Armour Heatgear Fly-By Mesh Racerback Tank – $29.99
Under Armour Heatgear Still Gotta Have It Bra – $24.99
adidas By Stella McCartney floral-print running jacket – $500
Japan Proxy large gym bag – $157.97
adidas Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto Tokio Trainer – $315
adidas By Stella McCartney Run CLIMALITE® stretch leggings – $110

An Errand-ous Day

April 2, 2013

My hubby was teasing me and giving me a hard time for going grocery shopping wearing this get up. Since the weather is getting warmer, I couldn’t resist busting out lighter jackets that I havent worn in awhile. Once I picked the jacket, the rest of the outfit immediately came to mind.
It’s probably not the most practical outfit for running errands, but I sure looked good doing it.

Outfit Combo: jacket from Forever21, pants from American Apparel, short sleeve leotard from American Apparel, bag from Matt & Nat, pumps from Diane Von Fustenberg.

Red Bow

March 27, 2013

New York weather was great this past Saturday — sunny, cool, crisp, with no biting wind. Doesn’t exactly feel like the full swing of spring yet, but I am glad that to have a day where I don’t need a hat or earmuffs to toast my ears. It gave me a chance to bust out one of my favorite hair accessories that I haven’t worn in awhile: my red American Apparel bow. Can’t wait for more sunny spring weather to come!

Outfit Combo: sweater from Nasty Gal, skirt from American Apparel, tights from Spanx, hair bow from American Apparel, oxford flats from Urban Outfitters.

Camo Cat

March 25, 2013

It’s no secret that I love to borrow from my hubby, and another piece that I love to “steal” is his JCrew shirt. It’s super comfy and the pattern contracts perfectly with my camo jacket. Add my cat headband to warm my ears up and the combo is perfect for a Sunday afternoon stroll.

Outfit Combo: jacket from Nasty Gal, leggings from American Apparel, headband from Urban Outfitter, cross-body bag from Matt & Nat, booties from Zara.

Le Mole

March 19, 2013

Just because my hubby is a full foot taller than me, doesn’t mean that his side of the closet is safe. There are several clothing pieces of his I regularly borrow, one of them is the ‘Le Mole’ jumper from French Connection. On him the jumper is a regular fit, but on me it becomes an oversized sweater — perfect for cold late winter days.

Outfit Combo: jumper from French Connection, riding pant from American Apparel, beanie from Gap , boots from Gap .
