When it comes to Fashion, I must say that I’ve got a soft spot for the small businesses. Partially I think it’s because I feel a kinship to these brands. I mean, as an up-and-coming fashion blogger, one can argue that I’m technically a small business myself. So I always get super excited when I find newcomer brands that I love. Because really, nowadays, how often is it that you can say you’re one of the first to discover something in fashion. Read on and I’ll introduce you to two of my recent faves.
It Is Well L.A.
I randomly found this brand a few months back at the Intermezzo Collection trade show, which by the way is a great way to find up-and-comers in the fashion world. One of the things I love about It Is Well L.A. is the simplicity of their design. Now don’t mistake simple with boring, because they are nothing but. Take their cropped pants, for example, which side slits put them far from being plain vanilla. For those of you who don’t like your fashion too complicated, the simple design means that all their pieces are easy to mix and match. This is probably a pretty silly analogy, but think of them as a fancy adult Garanimals. You can pick any of their tops and bottoms, and the two will probably pair well. Also, did I mention that all of their clothing are made locally in L.A. and that they donate 10% of their profits to clean water charities? Good fashion that stands for a good cause is something that I can really get behind.
Seven All Around
Living in NYC involves a lot of walking. On average I probably log at least two-miles per day. This necessitates having comfortable shoes, which often times translates to wearing flats. Wearing flats when you’re 4’11”, especially during fashion events, typically means that you’re resigned to be surrounded by giants. It’s extra worse during fashion week, when every other person seems to be 6ft-tall glamazonian model. Seriously, a good pair of comfortable heels is worth its weight in gold. So I can’t tell you how excited I was to find Seven All Around. Not only are their sandals gorgeous and super trendy, they have also been walking-tested by yours truly and have passed the comfort test.
