I’ve been looking to incorporate the sheer tulle shift dress into my wardrobe mix ever since I saw it on a fellow blogger. I kinda always thought this was one of those trend that might be juuuuuust a little too edgy for me. Mind you, not that I don’t strive to be fashion forward. But I find that when I go too ham on some trends, I just end up looking like I’m trying too hard — and that is not a good look on anyone.
When I happen to see this RE:NAMED tulle shift dress on mega sale at Century 21, I pretty much took as a sign from the universe that I need to give it a try.
Ok so now that I decided that I was going to give it ago, next step is to decide what to pair it with…
leotard / fancy undies – yeeeaaahh, hard pass on this one. I definitely am not modest nor prudish when it comes to fashion, but styling the shift dress with not much undereath will definitely stray in the “trying too hard” category for me.
bodycon dress – this is immediately where my mind went to next, and I actually purchased one from Amazon. Welp I ended up having to return that, because there is something about the shift shape of the tulle dress that accentuates the bodycon dress in a not nice way. It was not attractive to say the list.
semi-loose slip dress: – ding ding ding, we have a winner folks! My mind didn’t immediately go there, because I didn’t think the loose loose combination would work, but it really does.
To round out the look and add an “edginess” factor to it, I accessorized the dress combo with my fav Shelly London gladiator sandal and Georgia Mae ziggy faux fur clutch.
Since you know I’m a fan of figuring out 10-different ways to style one piece, you better believe I’m already thinking ahead. I definitely see a lot of potential on different ways you can style this dress, even some that are non-dressy. This would look so cute over jeans and a colorful tank top. Or even layered underneath a structured dress.
So what do you think? Would you try out the sheer gauzy dress. How would you style it.
Outfit combo: Tulle Shift Dress from RE:NAMED, slip dress from Topshop (find similar here), ziggy faux fur clutch from Georgia Mae, crozet gladiator sandal from Shellys London, golden amulet lion double ring from Wildfox.
