I’ve always been a fan of comfy clothes before, but now that I’m 6-mo pregnant, it’s pretty much all I want to wear. I’m already feeling uncomfortable in my own body, dealing with back ache and chest pains (love you baby girl but you’re squishing my organs), why make myself even more miserable with my clothing?
When it comes to pregnancy wear, I’ve been trying to take a non-traditional approach to buying clothes. I think mostly I just hate getting things that I know I’m only going to wear for a short period of time. While there are things you just can’t get around buying during your pregnancy, tights and swimsuits being two of them, you can get creative with most items. Luckily I’ve been a fan of oversized clothing for awhile now, so I’m able to continue wearing many of the stuff I already own. I hike up my skirt over my preggo belly and got myself a Maternity Band so I can keep wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans.
But despite all of that, I’m not necessarily going to put myself on a shopping hiatus for nine months. I still want to get new stuff and I want to be able to wear them past my pregnancy. The easiest (read: least depressing) thing to shop for are dresses, because pretty much any piece that is waist-less is fair game. And I’m really loving my shirt dresses lately, like this one from Daily Ritual. It’s the comfiest thing you’ll ever wear and I do like how it shows off my belly bump (which I find makes people nicer to me on the subway lol). Shirt dresses can be a bit basic, which is not necessarily a bad thing because it means I can play up the accessories. For this outfit, I chose to pair it up with a Tobi oversized denim jacket, Dog Limited snapback hat, and my new Mr. Gentleman wonder glasses.
By the way, these new glasses I’ve got come with the coolest lenses. They called ZEISS UV Protect and they protect your eyes from harmfull UV rays up to 400 nm. To give you a comparison, most sunglasses only protect up to 300 nm. Pretty useful considering on most days I’m too lazy to switch from my regular perscription glasses to sunglasses, especially if I’m just making the short walk from my apartment to the subway station.
Dang I guess comfiness and laziness is just the name of the game for me lately, huh? LOL good thing I’m full of lazy/comfy fashion ideas.
My outfit Combo: terry cotton and modal sweatshirt dress from Daily Ritual, ride or die black fringe distressed denim jacket from Tobi, what up snapback hat from Dog Limited, wonder glasses from Mr. Gentleman, cattitude enamel pin from Seltzer Goods, alta sneakers from Greats.
