I’m not the kind of person who sees a hotel just as a place to stay the night. It’s my home away from home. And I want to be as eager coming back to the comforts of the hotel as I am about exploring the town I’m visiting.
For my girls trip to New Orleans, Domio Baronne St. served as our home away from home. And man, I kind of did not want to leave because this home sure was nicer than my actual home. Our stay got me convinced that staying in an apartment-style hotel really is the best way to go, especially when you’re in a group. You just cannot beat the amenities.
It was so nice to have a living room to hang out in, as opposed to sitting around on a hotel bed. Our group of six girls shared two two-bedroom apartments between us. And we used the living room and kitchen of the bigger apartment as our hangout central.
I’m all about eating out and enjoying the restaurants of my vacation destination, but sometimes going out for every meal can get a little old. And some people may not want to eat out every time so they can save a bit of money. For me, I love having the option of being able to make my own breakfast (and late night snack). The kitchen also came in really handy when our vacation got extended an extra 24hr+ thanks to Hurricane Barry. Of course the inclement weather meant restaurants were not open and no Ubers were around. So we stocked up on groceries and had ourselves a couple of dinner/slumber parties.
Since luck wasn’t on our side when it came to weather, I am SO GLAD that we stayed at Domio. Our extra day of stay saw us using not only the dining table, but the laundry amenities as well (thank goodness for it because I didn’t pack extra clothes).
The amenities doesn’t end in the room. Domio also boast a 24-hr concierge, gym, game room, and a gorgeous rooftop pool that we sadly didn’t get to use because of the weather.
I’m definitely planning on staying at more Domio properties. I can see myself staying here not just for group trips, but also family trips as well. I recently learn the hard way that travelling with a one-year old come with a set of challenges I’ve never dealt with before (the funnest being: nap-time and bedtime). Maxine is lousy at going to bed when other people at around. I think she gets FOMO when she sees that other people are up. Also she needs the room to be as dark as possible for bed time. Since homegirl’s bedtime is at 7pm, sharing a room means that mom and dad also gets lights out at that time. This problem gets solved so nicely when you have a door to separate yourself from baby.
With 11 destinations, including Nashville and Miami, and four more coming (I’m so excited about London), there are plenty of places I can plan my upcoming vacation at.
I am loving the decor! So beautiful and chic.
