While I’ve been to Vegas many times, last week’s trip was the first time I had gone there during swimsuit weather. So naturally, pool time was a mandatory part of the vacay schedule. While the prospect of hanging out poolside in this Nevada oasis is exciting enough, what’s even better is that it gave me an excuse to go swimwear shopping…or at least I tried to anyway.
I came in to Victoria’s Secret with said intention, but couldn’t quite find a winning swimsuit. What I did find is this über cute swimsuit cover. I love that the see-through lace gives the cover-up dress a sexy feel, but the trapeze shape keeps it from veering into the HFS zone (by the way, that abbreviation stands Ho-Fo-Sho for those of you not in the know). Plus the white color makes it super versatile and easy to accessorize.

This past few days, I had a chance to tag along with the hubby on a trip to Las Vegas. He was already planned to be there all weekday for a work conference, so I figured it was the perfect excuse for a vacation. I flew out to joined the hubby on Wednesday night and had a relaxing spa / pool day on Thursday, all while he slaved away at the conference LOL. Well don’t feel too bad for the hubby. We extended the trip to the weekend (free hotel continued courtesy of hotel points) and he got to have some Vegas fun too!

Restaurants open up for al fresco dining and you see more ice cream vendors on the street. I’ve got a Vegas trip coming up and this will be the first time I’ll be in Sin City when it’s swimwear weather. So of course, I’m going to use the trip as an excuse to buy a new swimsuit. The thing is, I’m not quite sure what to pick. There are so many options out there! All I know is that it’s got to be fun, colorful — and more importantly, figure friendly. See I haven’t been so good at following my exercise plan the past couple of months, so for sure one-piece and high-waisted bikini bottoms will be on the horizon ☺.

Although I’m not quite going to the sweatpants level that Jess was at yesterday, I think she’s got the right idea with loungy comfy pants (read: stretchy waistband). I like my loungy pants comfy but a little dressed up. Case in point: this Ark & Co. pants I snagged at Lulu’s Style Studio event earlier this year. The pants super comfy and versatile — that you can wear it dressed up with a pair of heels (or even throw in a blazer if you want to get even fancier) or dressed down with plain tank and flats.

Well my “clothing check” is my blue American Apparel high-waisted pants, which I haven’t been able to fit into for awhile. No big D or anything, but I was finally able to button these pants (and I didn’t even have to suck my tummy in). Healthy eating FTW! ☺

Have you ever found something amazing from the “reject rack” while shopping? You know what I’m talking about — that sad little rack by the entrance of the dressing room. Well this romper I’m wearing didn’t quite make it to the reject rack before I snagged rescued it. I was shopping at Langford Market one day, minding my own business (kinda sorta), when this girl came out of the dressing room with a gorgeous looking romper. My eyes went wide, and then even wider when she proclaimed that it “fit her funny.” As the saying goes: one girl’s ill-fitting rejected clothes, is another’s treasure waiting to be discovered. Well, I’m sure glad I found mine.

I am super excited for this upcoming Memorial Day Weekend because Jess and I have a glamping trip planned. What’s glamping you ask? Glamping, a.k.a. glamorous camping, is basically camping without any of the annoying parts of it (ex: pitching a tent, sleeping on rocks, going to the bathroom in the woods). We’re going to have four days of fun at Camp Orenda, where the tent’s pitched and food’s cooked for us — all we gotta worry about is having fun hiking, rafting, and roasting marshmallows.

I’m not usually a fan of flowy long-sleeved maxi dresses. Since I’m über petite, I feel like those kinds of dresses swallows my figure. But the neon flower patterns on this dress is so vivid and pretty I decided to keep an open mind and give it a try. Good thing too, because I ended up really loving the dress. It still required hemming to get the length to not drag on the floor when I wear it, but other than that it’s absolutely perfect. The fabric drapes beautifully and I find myself actually loving the flowy 70s feel of the dress.
