Who doesn’t love Chanel?
This nail design is a tribute to the great house of fashion. Some things I painted are Chanel items I have and some are still in my wish list (hint hint hubby, I want that Chanel 5171 sunglasses).

I recently got a wacky Incan tye-dye printed shirt from American Apparel and thought this kooky shirt deserves a kooky hairstyle to go with it. So I decided to do a double messy sock-bun. I sure had a “different” look from everyone else at the farmers market that morning, haha!
People said that my hair looks like Minnie Mouse or Princess Leia. I’m guessing the Minnie resemblance also has to do with my short stature.

How do you turn a fit flare dress into a tough chic look that fits in my steelo?!? Well, you add in some flat boots aka my FAV, a jean jacket and an Alexander McQueen scarf! Seriously, these boots may not be for everyone and most may not like it, but I’m OBSESSED!

Models, fashion bloggers and fashionistas from all around KC came to support the Kansas City Fashion Week kickoff party hosted by Saks Off 5th at the Legends Outlets. Yours truly was asked to style a model for the party along with four other fellow bloggers. I must say, I can style without a budget every day of every month. For my challenge, I dressed my model with some red chords, a black top and a teal faux fur vest (which I can’t wait to have). Between the food, cocktails, models and fashion talk – I’d say this event was the perfect way to get everyone pumped for the upcoming fashion shows.

Jess and I were on a shopping hiatus (yes, we were trying really hard to be good with our spending), and coincidentally we both got tired of a blazer that the other likes. So the answer was obvious: SWAPPIES! Reuse is awesome — it’s good for the wallet and the environment.

If you ever wanted to be behind the scenes of America’s Next Top Model and see some amazing smizing in person then the Kansas City Fashion Week First Friday event was the place to be. Models, hair, makeup, designer clothing and photography were all part of the live art installation showcasing a sneak peak of what we will see next month for fashion week! Add in the free cocktails provided by Kansas Clean Distilled Whiskey served by the beautiful Sarah and Emily and you got one of the bestest art installations at First Friday.
It didn’t hurt that they were basically next door to Christopher Elbow and their dollar chocolates either, Holla!?!

I’m getting bored of the old bandeau and triangle top bikini routine. So I’ve been looking for a swimsuit with a more interesting and funky design. But will a funky design will result in a funky tan line? It is later in the summer and I’ve built up a base tan, so I’m hoping the tan line is not going to be a problem. Anyone else love the show Wilfred? When I found out that my sister’s boyfriend lives two houses down from Wilfred and Jenna, of course I had to stalk take pictures in front of the house. And yes, all of this happened while some neighborhood kids were watching. Just call me the annoying tourist, ha!

Picture vintage. Now, completely reimagine it. That’s what happened to me after I attended the Fashion on the Fringe: Vintage Fringe, this past Friday with my sissy and Kim of kimberlyloc. We had a chance to see and tweet the truly amazing and fashion forward runway works of 10 upcoming and selfmade local designers. The designers were asked to interpret vintage from Victorian costumes to 80s hip hop. These inspirations were evident and stitched in every inch of fabric (no pun intended) as the models walked down the runway. We witnessed some amazing designers: Amanda Burkhart for House of Cochon, Ginger Bow Tie, Jessy Bergmann Inner Hippie, Little Shell Designs, Sablu, WM Couture, No Human Intentions, Linda Pop and Ziaha Marie.
Everyone loved the entire show, which included elements of hip hop from DJ Leonightus and Silent Empire! Keep reading to see some of the pieces that I connected with.

What I love the most about a great tweed jacket? In my opinion, it doesn’t really matter what your wearing, it automatically dresses up your look. What may appear as a simple white tank and shorts is quickly transformed with the addition of this tweed jacket to complete your new look.

This jean jacket is yet another one of my finds from Savers! I didn’t find the jacket as you see it pictured here. It was originally longer and wasn’t distressed, but I immediately saw its potential. I shortened the jacket and distressed it with sandpaper, scissors and tweezers (video to come).
