Recap: Kansas City Fashion Week Red Carpet Runway

September 10, 2012

The top bloggers (pictured above), the beautiful models, the local amazing designers, and the cutest puppies of Kansas City were all out and dressed to the nines for the Kansas City Fashion Week’s Red Carpet Runway showcase benefiting Wayside Waifs.

We all watched in awe as amazing looks by Lenzanita Sustainable Couture, margiehogue for awava, American Trash, SuSHE by J. Tracey, Donna Faye, Cheryl Eve Acosta with Chelsea Riane Designs, Hilary Brown, and Lisu Vega; graced the runway.

My FAV model of the night was Reighann! She totally rocked it up and down the runway with her fierce attitude in this Donna Faye number. In the words of the great RuPaul — ‘You Betta Work’

I rarely wear jewelry, but Cheryl Eve Acosta’s amazing neck candy makes me excited to rock out more accessories, more often! The drapping necklaces reminded me of jelly fish and the blue coloring detail automatically made me think about the ocean. No doubt that this collection is perfect for Spring 2013.

Colors and Amazing headpieces really caught my eye during the Lisu Vega show. These were two of my favorite headpiece/dress combos, but to be honest I LOVED them all.

These four looks grabbed my attention during the show. To me, more guys should start wearing bowties, so Justin’s look by Lenzanita Sustainable Couture was totes something I’d dress my husby in. Candi owned this bold, checker print number by Donna Faye. UGANDA by margiehogue for awava‘s mix of tiger print and floral made me think this could be my NEW leopard print. And really, who wouldn’t want to own this monkini by Hilary Brown, it’s done in classic white with an asymmetrical twist.

After four days of watching, wanting, and shopping, I have to say that this year KCFW was AMAZING! I’m so proud of how far the team has come from the last show in Feb, and can’t wait to see what is in store for the next show!

This year’s styles look more polished and feminine compared to last year’s looks — I loved the dresses and prints Karma sent down the catwalk. The way they flowed was just stunning.
