If I had it my way, every day would be halloween. I just love dressing up! It’s fair to say I don’t wait around for October to come up with the costume ideas. This year I decided to go all out put those ideas into reality, with the help of fellow bloggers Megan of TF Diaries, Jackie of Living After Midnite, Diego of Dandy in The Bronx, and our trusty photographer Natalie. If you’re scratching your head looking for that perfect costume ideas, look no further. I’ve got a list of the top five pop-culture halloween group costume ideas.
1. Roaring 20s
From Great Gatsby to Downton Abbey, the Roaring 20s is an era that will always be relevant in the costume world. And dare I say it’s one of the most fashionable time period. It’s a great option for those of you who are looking to get real glammed up. Bonus: you’ll likely be able to save this costume for a Great Gatsby party (or really any party).
My look: Flapper Dress // Flapper Headband // Earrings // Pump
Megan’s look: Flapper Dress // Flapper Headband // Pump
Jackie’s look: Flapper Dress // Flapper Headband
Diego’s look: Tuxedo Shirt // Bow Tie // Shoes // Shirt Stays // Straw Hat // Socks
2. Ghostbusters (plus Kevin)
When pretty much all of my favorite female comedian team up to make a movie, of course I have to honor it with a halloween costume. This costume is guaranteed to give you the biggest buzz. We definitely got a whole lot of “who ya gonna call” hollers while walking down the street.
Yates (my look): Ghostbusters Movie Deluxe Costume // Boots // Glasses
Holtzmann (Megan’s look): Ghostbusters Movie Deluxe Costume // Sunglasses // Tie // Boots
Gilbert (Jackie’s look): Ghostbusters Movie Deluxe Costume
3. First Wives Club
Hands down a classic and one of my favorite movies of all time. This is such an easy costume to do, with pieces you may very well already own. And if you end up getting a new one, chances are you’ll have plenty of opportunities to wear it outside of halloween.
Annie (my look): Pencil Mid-Mini Skirt // Single-Breasted Blazer // High Heel // Turtleneck
Elise (Megan’s look): Blazer // Trouser // Pumps
Brenda (Jackie’s look): Skater Skir // Blazer
4. Powerpuff Girls + Professor Utonium
I still fondly remember waking up in the morning, getting ready for school with this playing in the background. This costume is SO EASY to put together, with all the ingredients you need available on Amazon Prime. It’s all sugar, spice, and everything nice!
Buttercup (my look): Dress // Socks // Pumps
Blossom (Megan’s look): Dress // Headband // Socks
Bubbles (Jackie’s look): Dress // Socks
Professor Utonium (Diego’s look): Professional Lab Coat // Tobacco Pipe // Shirt // Tie // Socks
5. Pop and Rock Icons
True story: this originally was supposed to be an 70s and 80s icon, but I kinda went rogue because I really wanted to go as Selena. What can I say, I had a huge itch to bidi bidi bom bom. But the great thing about picking pop icons for your group costume idea is just that. It’s not very restrictive and can pick whoever is your favorite icon.
Selena Quintanilla (My look): Pearl Bustier Bra Top // Jeggings // Boots // Earrings
David Bowie (Megan’s look): Playsuit // Boots
Elton John (Jackie’s look): Blazer // Shoulder Wings // Sunglasses // Pants
Freddie Mercury (Diego’s look): Yellow Jacket // Jeans // Arm Band // Belt // Fake Mustache
