Homemade remedies: DIY Body Scubs

March 7, 2013

I was on the hunt for a body scrub this past weekend. I browsed a few stores and opened tons of sample tubs, but couldn’t quite find the scent that I like. Then I realized I could probably make my own scrub — that way I can customize it any way I want. After some research, I found that not only is it super easy to do, I already had most of the ingredients in my pantry.

Read on to find out what ingredients you need and how you can make your own DIY scrub.

What You’ll Need

Coconut Brown Sugar Scrub:

Rosemary Sea Salt Scrub:

Vanilla Citrus Honey Scrub:

How To Make
The easiest to put it together is to dump all the ingredients (for the scrub I want to make) into a ziploc bag and mix by massaging the bag. You can also transfer the mix into a bell jar for storage. As long as you keep the mixture away from water, they will last for at least a couple of months.

How To Use
I find the best way to exfoliate is to use the scrub dry, that is to use it without moistening your skin first. This should also help to avoid getting water in your scrub mixture and make them last longer.
Take a dollop of the mixture on the palm of you hand and rub it on your body in a circular motion. Once your have scrubbed well, rinse thoroughly. Pat dry and follow through with moisturizer.

TIP: These scrubs also make great DIY gifts for your friends and family.
