This weekend has been one of the best weekends ever. I got to see the Tim Gunn in the flesh!!! He is probably the nicest celebrity I’ve ever met (although I should caveat that the list is not long). He even said that I was stylish. Understandably, that left me with an un-erasable smile for the rest of the weekend.
I’m on the first few pages of his book, Gunn’s Golden Rules: Life’s Little Lessons for Making It Work, where he mentioned the importance of courtesy and good manners. I’m loving Tim Gunn more and more as I’m reading this book!
The adventure started Thursday afternoon, at the model open casting call for the fashion show. My friend Haydee and I were convinced that being cast as one of the models in the show was the only surefire way to get to meet Mr. Gunn. Alas, we didn’t get picked — I suspect because we were probably too dressed up for the label, since we came straight from work. Nevertheless, we were determined to meet Tim Gunn at whatever cost.
So we got to the fashion show 30 min early and went straight to the book signing line. This meant that we had to forfeit good seats to watch the fashion show, but it was totally worth it! We were one of the first people in line and was fortunate enough to get a spot under the store awning. Oh did I mentioned that it was a rainy day — and that it rained super hard at one point? Those poor unfortunate souls who came late must look mighty drenched for their time spotlight with Mr. Gunn.
Anyone who spent $100 or more get to take a picture with Tim and a signed copy of his book Gunn’s Golden Rules: Life’s Little Lessons for Making It Work. We also got a surprise goody bag filled with Tim Gunn holiday greeting cards and Bare Minerals samples.
My friend Christina made it to the show with her boys. Are they adorable or what!
Two of the cutest lil men making it work!
I know right! I definitely see two future male models in the making there :o)
