This tiger shorts is one of those piece of clothing that immediately struck me as I walked into the store. As most of my Topshop shopping stories goes: I came in looking for one thing, got distracted by all the pretty shiny things, and leave with much more than what was on my shopping list. But the shorts is too cute to pass up — plus you know I’m a sucker for all things feline related.
About a year or so ago, I was in a cab when I heard the NYC tourism tagline “for the world, it’s the trip of a lifetime. For you, it’s a subway ride away.” This really struck a chord with me. Why let the tourist have all the fun, right? I’ve been in the big apple for a few years now, and I don’t think I have even scratched the surface in hitting all of the attraction of the city — but not for lack of trying. To assist me in my NY exploration mission, there’s a few essentials that I can’t do without.
There’s something fun about the idea of wearing all nude. Not sure if it’s because I’m just a huge fan of doing matching pieces. Or if there’s something about it that appeals to the juvenile 4th grader part of my brain that thinks it’s funny to wear clothes that make you look naked from far away. Either way, I’m into it.
Lord knows I’ve had tons of struggles with my skin. I mean, come on, I thought as you get old and have to deal with fine lines and wrinkles creeping in, you also get to shed the skin problems of your teenage years. But alas, the pesky teenage pimples just mutated to adult acne for me, of which I have to deal with on top of the barrage of new skin issues adulthood brings. No matter what I do, my skin will always have its good and bad days (the latter tends to occur around that “time of the month”). However I find that I have more of the good days when I am diligent with my cleansing and exfoliation. Not being too aggressive with at-home extraction also helps, since these can cause pustule. So when I came a across the 4-in-1 cleanser/exfoliator/extractor/infusor Le Mieux Skin Perfecter, which seems to have a lot of promise to help me with my layers of skin concerns, I had to try it out. Because, who doesn’t want perfect skin, right?
I have been so into two piece sets lately. Who doesn’t love two for the price of one, am I right? It’s been a favorite tactic of late when I’m shopping: look for the two piece sets hidden in the dresses section. Obviously, the main attraction of the outfit is the matching pieces. But then you’ll also get the extra bonus of being able to wear just the top and the bottom with other pieces you already have in your closet. I already have in mind to pair the top from this set with short shorts for an upcoming music festival I’m going to. Since I definitely cannot be baring my belly at work, I can wear just the bottom, paired with a black blouse and an oversized white blazer for work. The possibilities are endless — and I love it!
We’ve had some weird weather this spring, which has made dressing stressful to say the least. Not to mention the increasingly sad pile of newly acquired crop tops, short shorts and rompers thats been sitting in my closet, just waiting to see the light of day. Well it seems like the weather gods are keep to make up for the spring funk, just in time for Memorial Day long weekend. We had gorgeous weather, with just a sprinkle of rain, for all four days (yes my work is very generous and gave us Friday off also). And of course you know what my favorite uniform for frolicking (and driking) in the sun: the romper.
Those of you who follow the blog know all about my love for adult onesies, aka rompers and jumpsuits. I’m also a huge fan of matching two-pieces. So when I had a chance to combine these two, of course I jumped on it. So you’re probably wondering how something can be both a romper and a matching two-piece. Well what I’m wearing is technically a romper, but looks like two piece because of how the top is set. So in this outfit, I’m all party and midriff in the front, and romper business in the front.
Have you ever had one of those moments where you knew you wanted an article clothing after seeing it for a millisecond? I definitely had a “love at first sight” moment with this pink long blazer from Topshop. As usual, I came in for something specific and came out with something totally different — and spent way more money than intended. But you know I think it’s totally worth every penny and this coat and I will have a long and fruitful relationship ahead of us. There so many was to style this jacket. From accenting a simple black outfit, like I did in this blog, to dressing up a casual short shorts and shirt combo — the possibilities are endless!
You wouldn’t know it from all the unseasonably cold weather we’ve been having lately, but summer is just around the corner. Which means it’s almost time for leisurely bike rides in Governor’s Island, picnics in Central Parks, and spending a fun filled music festival day in Randall’s Island. My favorite uniform for frolicking in the sun, doing all these fun activities, is of course the romper.
I’ve been having so many dissapointing moments with the weather lately. When you have all these new short rompers and crop top lined up for your spring outfits, you can’t help but feel bummed out when the max temperature is 61°F. But you know what, for today’s blog outfit I’m going to totally embrace the semi-chilly weather and pulling out a favorite of mine from the closet: the Nasty Gal Lace Case Tee.

I’m not one to shy away from crop tops — there’s definitely quite a few of them in my closet. But one thing that I usually almost always my crop tops with: high-waisted bottoms. This time I decided to do something I haven’t done before and and pair with with pants that show a peek of belly button (gasp). Gotta admit to you guys that I was really struggling on whether I should post this outfit or not.
Oh-em-gee you guys, I think it’s going to be crop top weather in NYC from now on. Well, okay so maybe you’ll have to carry around a light jacket with you. But still — the prospect of expanding my outfit selection to include crop top is welcomed news. My current favorite and latest edition to my wardrobe is this airtex crop tee from Topshop. I love the luxe sportswear feel that looks good dressed up with a faux leather skirt, but I can also pair it with high waisted jeans for a more casual look.
Finally! This weekend’s weather has been so gorgeous and actually feeling like spring. One of the first days where I actually walked around most of the day carrying my jacket and wondering why I even brought one in the first place. But of course, the April weather being temperamental as it is, as soon as you get away from the sun or feel a strong breeze you feel really grateful that you’ve got a sweatshirt on (maybe that jacket wasn’t a bad idea after all). My days of wearing this Mickey sweatshirt for the season is likely numbered, but you’re not going to hear any complaints from me. I was getting sick of the winter-in-spring weather anyway.
Spring is fully on, which means it’s time to incorporate pops of color into my wardrobe. Well, not like I’m color adverse or anything, but it just always feels like when the change of season rolls around, there’s suddenly an urgency to not don so much black and gray. This skirt is the perfect transitioning piece for early spring: the bold orange is a nice change of pace from my usual black and gray, and it’s long enough to protect my legs from the sometime random cold spring gust of wind.
Just when you think Spring is finally here, the universe throws you a 30° weather. On the bright side, it did give me a chance to bust out my Maison Scotch faux fur jacket.

I might have shied from double denim once upon a time, but that was a very long time ago. Now I’m all about embracing the Canadian tux, as people would call it. I thought: why just go double denim, when you can layer and triple it up. And while you’re at it, add a touch of zaniness with the Ripndip lord nermal beanie. Being the committed cat lady that I am, I can never say no to feline themed accessories.
Now let’s get back to the denim for just one second. Can I tell you guys about the skinny suki from Silver Jeans that I just recently discovered. Not only is it in the trendy distressed style that I’m really loving lately, but it’s made from super soft and stretchy materials. I love when looking good and comfort actually go together. In fashion, these things just don’t happen often enough that I’ll take it whenever I can get it. Too bad they don’t make it in black too, because I pretty much want a pair in every shade and color.

I love when outfit pieces make their debut for the first time after being hidden in the closet for so long. This mustard blazer hasn’t seen the light of day for over a year. It’s made from one of those materials thats light and flowy — awesome for light coverage on not-so-cold days, not so great for staying unwrinkled when layered under winter coats. But the weather was finally good enough that I can wear it on its own without having to layer anything extra over it. Pair it with distressed jeans and black pumps, and got myself a winning outfit.
I got to tell you guys about an “accessory” item I just recently discovered: CitySeat. Like the name suggest, CitySeat is a portable foldable sweat proof bike cover that comes in a variety of fun prints. I’m all about “prettying up” every aspect of my wardrobe and accessories, so I figure that should definitely extend to bike seats too.
