Furs and Kittens on The Rooftop
October 22, 2012Things has been really crazy for me the past few weeks. Between moving to New York City, starting a new job, and travelling to meet my new client, your girl hasn’t been able to catch much of a break. To make it even worse, the moving boxes hasn’t gotten here yet. So I’m pretty much going on half of my wardrobe, which by the way are lying in piles on the closet floor since the hangers are not here yet.
But hey, it’s all good because I get to cross “moving to NYC” off of my bucket list. This past weekend was my first real weekend I get to spend here, so I’m spending part of it chilling on my rooftop deck, enjoying the view.
New York, I can’t wait to get to know you!
Outfit Combo: fur vest from Lucky Brand, dress from American Apparel, skull necklace from Brandi Melville , Lita Cat Tapestry from Jeffrey Campbell
Halloween Costume: Evil Queen
October 19, 2012
Between Snow White & the Huntsman, Mirror Mirror, and Once Upon a Time, the ol’ Brothers Grimm fairy tale, Snow White and the seven dwarfs, have gotten MAJ attention. For halloween, why not command everyone’s attention in the room by dressing up as one of my all time FAV villains, the Evil Queen. And because she is beautiful but cruel I’m taking these inspirations from the Queen, played by Charlize Theron, in Snow White & the Huntsman. Happy Halloween!
Halloween Costume: PSY
October 19, 2012
If you haven’t heard of PSY yet, then you are missing out. He is THE k-pop (aka Korean pop, shout out!) singer/star that has taken the world by storm with his ‘horse dance’ video on YouTube. For this Halloween – why not bring your ‘Gangnam Style’ out by sporting this super easy PSY costume.
Recap: Back in the Swing with Madewell
October 14, 2012If you didn’t make it out to Madewell at Town Center Plaza last Thursday evening in support of “Back in the Swing,” you missed out. In addition to the beautiful new clothes, bright pink cupcakes, pink lemonade and fabulous models and stylists at the store, there was an amazing selection of sale items up for grabs.
Madewell donated 10 percent of the evening’s proceeds to support “Back in the Swing,” a nonprofit dedicated to helping breast cancer survivors get “back in the swing” of life. I encourage you to donate directly to this organization if you were unable to attend! Be sure to mention you’re donating in celebration of this event!

Alexander McQueen Spring 2013 …Buzz Bee Chic
October 4, 2012The new Alexander McQueen collection makes me want to get some bees and start harvesting my own honey. Because lets face it, those hats were buzzy chic. They are more than just an accessory (commonly known as a ‘hat’), they are wearable arts …And by the way, sunglasses just became so 2012.
On the real though, the models told a story on the runway. Starting with the bee keeper chic, moving to honey tone colors, and ending this symphony of the flower-esc patterns in full victorian skirted dresses. The structures, details, honey comb-esc shapes, tortoise shell pattern, full skirts, and bustiers — all screamed CLASSIC Lee McQueen. As a house of McQueen #1 fan, I LOVED everything about it. Sarah Burton has done it again and I personally can’t wait to see how these translate in retail stores… OH you haven’t pre-ordered yet?!???
Chanel Spring 2013 …Chello Chanel
October 4, 2012OMG. I love love love the latest Chanel collection for Spring 2013 for two reasons: 1) who doesn’t LOVE Chanel, and 2) the leather trimmings and cropped jackets are addicting. Just last week, I dropped off a jacket at the tailor to receive an identical treatment. Was I channeling Karl on that one or what?!?!!! Seriously, I just asked to have a older trench coat cropped and have leather trimmings added to the bottom hem and sleeves. Now I’ll be able to wear it into 2013 without feeling SOOO last season. Karl and I totes share a brain, this collection just made that obvious.
Saint Laurent Spring 2013 …LOVE
October 3, 2012I must admit, I was a little sketch about Heidi Slimane wanted to rebrand Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) to ‘Saint Laurent’. I thought ol’ boy was going to come in and ghetto everything up. But I gotta say it, although some of his looks were a little cray cray, I did like the unexpected side of the show. Traditionally you see more pastels, florals, and geometric shapes for spring collections; but NOT here. It totes took on a fall, yet airy spring vibe using a black palette, skinny jeans, leather, and fitted blazers. And despite not being a fan of the over-accessorized looks, I did enjoy the overall feel. I will probably spend my son’s college money to buy some of the (soon-to-be vintage fabulous) pieces, well maybe wouldn’t go that far, but you get the idea.
Are you feelin’ like you may be a Saint Laurent gal?
Christian Dior Spring 2013 …Blazer Girl
October 2, 2012Are you a blazer gal??!? Cause I’m a self proclaimed sucker for blazers — 0h and I love me some tulle, which is why Raf Simons Spring 2013 ready-to-wear collection for Dior grabbed moi attention. Oh and BTW, this was his first showing for Dior = You GO boy!
This collection consists of exquisitely tailored blazers and super chic business-y yet fun dresses. See above… I love blazers, if you’re still not sure about my love affair. Not to mention his use of a darker palette, which I readily rock out during all four seasons. The cat walk blazers had chic details yet remained structured; and the dresses were brought sexy back while leaving room for your imagination to wander. And the eye make-up paired with the slick pony tails, made me wish I was a vampire. Yay for the new era of Dior… Blazer chic is the new spring.
Farewell Shorts-in-October Weather
October 1, 2012This past weekend, I officially moved from San Antonio to New York City (and I start my new job today *eeeek*). Moving to the Big Apple has always been a life-long dream of mine that it feels so surreal that it’s finally happening — I’m still pinching myself to make sure that I’m not dreaming.
Even though I’m happy and super excited about this new chapter in my life, I am already missing my friends in Texas terribly.
Two other things I will also miss about San Antonio: being able to wear shorts in October and the cost of living. Let’s just say I more than tripled my rent budget…
Outfit Combo: Longroad denim vest from Madewell, striped tank from Forever 21 (find similar here and here), denim high-waist cuff shorts from American Apparel, cross-body bag from BCBG Max Azria, Llosa sunglasses from Contego, breezy suede thong sandal from Ecote (via Urban Outfitters).

Recap: Kansas City Fashion’s Night Out 2012
September 9, 2012While Gita and my sister were partying it up at Neiman Marcus; Kim and I were at Halls and The Garment District Boutique on Fashion’s Night Out!
Our first stop was at Halls to visit the mannequin that Kim styled in the store! We enjoyed alcoholic slushies curtesy of Snow & Co., and entered bunches of giveaways, which we didn’t win (DARN). Next, we went to our FAV boutique, The Garment District! The owners Annette and Randall pulled out all the stops for FNO, we had an open champagne bars, goodies bags (that included a bottle of champagne), live DJ, and shopping!
So, despite our lack of Chanel, we had a pretty darn good time, and can’t wait until next year!
Recap: San Antonio Fashion’s Night Out 2012
September 7, 2012I spent Fashion’s Night Out yesterday night at one of my fashion places of worship *cue angelic music* Neiman Marcus. Christina and I, along with the rest of the SAFABB girls, had a blast sipping on cocktails while catching up on the latest trend.
One trend that I’m definitely excited to see on the runway is Menswear for Women. My hubby better watch out, because this means I’m going to be raiding his side of the closet more, haha!
Read on to see the rest of the trend report from Neiman Marcus and my favorite look from each of them…

Island Girl
September 4, 2012I recently took a trip to Hawaii’s Big Island — it’s was definitely one of my best vacay ever! I’ve been gone from Hawaii for only two days and already I’m missing it big time.
Of course while I was there, I couldn’t resist prancing around beachside like an island girl. Although I dont think my hair is long enough to play the part. I probably need some extensions to look like a proper Hawaiian hula girl haha!
Outfit Combo: sikly sleeveless top from Frenchi (via Nordstrom), shorts from Saks Off 5th (find similar here and here), shell necklace gift from Mauna Lani hotel.
