I found this hat one of my recent shopping trips to H&M. Even though this hat was placed on the high rack, and well above the line of sight of my shorty pants, I was immediately draw to it. The shape and the bold color of the hat was exactly what I’m looking for: the perfect fall statement piece. Plus isn’t it a rule of fashion that every girl needs a big floppy hat (or something like that).

I totally did not expect the weather to be as hot as it was during NYFW. Consequently a lot of the outfits I had planned out for the week did not quite worked out as planned, and some improvisations had to be made. I usually reserve hats for day-3 hairs, since it’s a classic fix up for days when you’re too busy or too lazy to wash your hair. Floral shorts again?!??!!? HECK YEA. These shorts are so comfy that I’ve been wearing them to run errands, meet friends for drinks, and even lounging on the couch. I really didn’t think I would be so obsessed, since I bought them to be my ‘fancy’ shorts. It just goes to show that you really never know how much you love a piece of clothing until you try it on and wear it out!

For today’s look, I thought it would be fun to do a more tomboy look to contrast Monday’s girly-girl look. There’s two items in this outfit, the Ted Baker satchel and Zara bow tie, that I straight up bought at the men’s section of the store. Because, limiting yourself to just the women’s section is just boring.

I love versatile dresses, like this red swing dress from River Island, that acts as a blank palate for the rest of my outfit. Not only are they easy to style, because they go with virtually everything, they are also mega money savers for the same reason. I wouldn’t call myself a girly-girl, or at least not when it comes to dressing up. I probably borrow from my hubby’s side of the closet way too many times to be labeled that. But sometimes I figure, why not? It’s fun to go outside of your comfort zone a bit and try something you wouldn’t usually pick. For me that would be this Finley dress from Voodoo Vixen.
While floral prints are nothing new, the über feminine silhouette of this vintage-inspired dress definitely is. I must say: I don’t look half bad in this girly-girl outfit. What do you think?

I got this gorgeous skirt from H&M a few weeks ago. I went in exclusively for the purposes of getting swim trunks for the hubby, but got totally distracted by this gorgeous piece that was on the mannequin. Ugh, you got me good H&M!
It’s almost perfect with the exception of the length that’s a tad to long for my shorty-pants figure. Being my usual forgetful self, I keep forgetting to take it to the tailor to get hemmed. Thankfully for this day, my trusted high heel Loubis came to the rescue. I still have plans on shortening the length though, so it can be worn with flats and shorter heels. Because, lets keep it real, I’m not about to walk around NYC all day in my Loubis. Mega heel days are also known as expensive cab days in my book LOL.
