Cable Knit, Tartan and Jewels

November 11, 2013

I got the Scarlett Statement Necklace as part of my Lucky FABB swag bag. Getting a giant swag bag already makes me feel like a spoiled kid on Christmas morning, but I got especially giddy when I saw this necklace. The candy colored jewels reminds me of Marie Antoinette (well, Sofia Coppola’s version anyway). As soon as I saw it, I knew that it would be the perfect accessory to compliment and brighten up a boring ol’ sweater/button-up outfit combo.

Almost Sunset

October 29, 2013

Those of you who are fellow bloggers or avid photographers may already know this, but the best time to take outfit photos is usually in the early morning or in the late afternoon twilight. Since I consider waking up and getting ready before 10:30 am a huge feat, it goes without saying that most of my blog pictures are taken in the afternoon time instead.
One of these days I’ll get my sh*t together and actually wake up early to take pictures. But for now I’m content with playing chicken with sunset.

Hair Tutorial: Milkmaid Braid Updo

October 8, 2013

I love braided updos, especially milkmaid braids. This hairstyle looks deceptively complicated, but it’s really not that hard. All you need is hair elastics, bobby pins, and deft fingers sprinkled with a bit of patience. As long as you know how to do french braids, this updo should be a piece of cake!

Double Denim Brunch

October 1, 2013

I love over-sized shirts — they are the perfect attire for a laid-back lazy Sunday brunch. I found this printed chambray at Langford Market while visiting my family in Houston a few weeks ago. The boutique, which I like to describe as an affordable version of Anthropologie, is one of my fav in Texas. It’s really too bad they don’t have a branch in New York.
Although come to think of it, this is probably a good thing for my wallet!

Outfit Combo: shirt from Langford Market, jeans from Uniqlo, sunglasses from Proenza Schouler, shoes from Target, bag from Botkier.

Rollin’ With The Homies

September 19, 2013

I am definitely channeling Tai from Clueless with today’s blog outfit. I guess it’s true what they say: fashion trends are really cyclical. Because I’m pretty sure the last time I wore overalls, it was made by Oshkosh B’gosh and Jurassic Park ruled the box office.

Outfit Combo: denim shortalls from American Apparel, shirt from J Crew, hat from Topshop, shoes from Target, bag from Botkier.

Nail Tutorial: How To Remove Gel Polish

September 9, 2013

Oh gel polish, how I have a love/hate relationship with you… I love how you stay on pretty for two weeks. But when I want you off, you don’t seem to want to get away. Of course the times when I need a polish change usually coincides with the times that my schedule is the busiest and I don’t have time to go to the nail salon.

But guess what, you can don’t need to go to a salon to remove gel polish. You probably already have all the tools needed: cotton ball, acetone, and foil. Read on to find out how easy it is!

Recipe: Blueberry Scones

September 4, 2013

Who doesn’t LOVE a good scone UH crazy people, that’s who. Anyways the problem with scones is they are usually made with heavy cream OR real milk and that does NOT agree with my tummy (sad face). Soooooo to help remedy that sitch, I make it with some almond milk and the oh so popular and chic greek yogurt.

Suburban Blogging

August 28, 2013

Wearing this hat makes me feel reeeal country and I’m not really sure why considering there’s really nothing country about it. Maybe it’s more so the setting of photo. Hanging out on my parent’s front porch swing, accompanied by their kitty cat, Duduts — you can’t get more suburban country than that.

Outfit Combo: shirt from Urban Outfitters, pants from Uniqlo, hat from Obey, sandals from Joie, necklace from Madewell.

The White Rabbit

August 27, 2013

When you buy clothing because it has characters from your FAV book/movie — Does that mean you are obsessed?

If YES, then I’m guilty because the only reason I got this shirt is ‘Follow the White Rabbit’. More proof of my Alice in Wonderland obsession can be found here, here, here and here, oh and my Mad Hatter tea party birthday last year!

Outfit Combo: top: Asos, bottom: Asos dress worn as skirt, bag: Alexander McQueen skull fold over clutch, sunnies: Ray-Ban Aviators and booties: Jeffrey Campbell ‘Everly’ Bootie

Monochromatic

August 12, 2013

You guys have NO idea how shop-deprived I’ve been. Following and sticking to a budget is not fun, especially not when it comes to your wardrobe. Since I cant remember the last time I went to the mall, I decided to relax the purse strings a bit this past weekend. It indeed was the perfect time to do it, since it coincided with tax-free weekend. I snagged tons of deals, including this Madewell top, at über discounted prices.

Outfit Combo: top from Madewell, skirt from Dorothy Perkins, sandals from Joie, earrings from Nasty Gal.

Over and Over

July 31, 2013

There has been a welcome change in the summer weather lately AND I’m enjoying it. I love being able to wear a light jacket and my booties without passing out from heat exhaustion or putting my deodorant to the test. Hope this weather lasts until the end of summer, hashtag wishfulthinking.
